Robert Zemeckis’ latest attempt to convince us all that his CGI-animated, motion-capture movies are really cool and not at all creepy will be called “Mars Needs Moms”.
Based on the children’s book by Berkeley Breathed and set up at Disney Studios, the film will follow a little boy named Milo
who stows away on a spacecraft bound for the red planet in order to save his mother.
Seems Mom’s been kidnapped by the Martians because… well because Mars needs moms!
Seth Green will “play” Milo in the film. I have to put that in quotations because we’ll probably only see a weird Green-esque version of him up on the screen. Seth is a very youthful-looking actor, but I don’t think he can pull off playing a young boy at this time in his life – but what matters age when you have the magic of CGI!
The “Mars” cast is filled out by Mindy Sterling (Green’s mother in the “Austin Powers” series) who will play the alien leader, Dan Fogler (“Fanboys”) is playing Milo’s friend Gribble, and Joan Cusack, who plays the titular “mom” role.
