The first images from Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh‘s highly-anticipated follow up to In Bruges, have gone online. The film stars Woody Harrelson as a gangster who goes on a rampage after his beloved shih tzu is kidnapped by an unemployed actor (Sam Rockwell) whose only source of income is helping a professional dognapper (Christopher Walken) who steals dogs and returns them for the reward money (That’s right: McDonagh has basically borrowed the M.O. of Jon Lovitz character from City Slickers 2). Colin Farrell co-stars as Martin, a struggling screenwriter who tries to help Rockwell’s character, but only gets caught up in the mess, although it gives him great material for his next script, which is called “Seven Psychopaths”.

Other casting notes on the flick:
- Sidibe plays “an unlucky dog-walker who faces Harrelson’s wrath”
- Kurylenko plays Harrelson’s girlfriend
- Cornish plays “Kaya, the screenwriter’s patient and supportive girlfriend, nursing him through his writer’s block”
- Waits plays Zachariah, a rabbit-petting weirdo who offers up strange stories from his past for Martin’s screenplay.
I’m usually a little way of movies where the writer-director has spun himself (or herself) into the movie (and decides to get someone as handsome as Farrell to play him), but In Bruges has continued to grow on me over the years, and I can’t wait to see how Seven Psychopaths turns out, especially with this cast.

Why is it strange that he would get a handsome movie star to play himself? Aren’t the vast majority of Hollywood actors attractive?
Plus, where does it say that the Farrell character is McDonagh? Just because the character is a screenwriter doesn’t mean that it equals the actual writer.
A screenwriter named Martin who is inspired to write a screenplay called Seven Psychopaths… He wrote himself into the movie. Something I have absolutely no issue with by the way(Adaptation is one of my favorite films of all time. Granted, Kaufman didn’t direct that, but he wrote himself into his screenplay).
This sounds like a winner though. Looking forward to it.
Cannot wait for this film. I adore In Bruges!
Is this really a sequel to In Bruges ?? Do Colin play the same character ?
No, man… it is not a sequel to IN BRUGES.
