Warner Home Video has just announced director Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray on March 30.  While James Cameron’s Avatar has dominated the box office and news the past two months, Sherlock Holmes has quietly made almost $400 million at the worldwide box office and it’s still making money.  For a movie that cost around $100 million to make, Holmes is one of the big success stories of 2009.  That’s probably why the studio is moving forward with a sequel as I type these words.

Hit the jump to check out the cover art and the info we were provided about the DVD and Blu-ray:According to WB Home Video,  here are the extras:

WB Maximum Movie Mode (TRT Feature Length)
- Director Guy Ritchie Walk On

Sherlock Holmes: Reinvented
Deleted Scenes – TBD

My Commentary

While they list deleted scenes as part of disc 2, when I spoke to director Guy Ritchie, he said they didn’t have anything to put on the disc.  That’s probably why it says TBD. More info as we get it.

  1. The poster claims “over 9 million units sold”

What is it referring to? Blu-Ray players? Why should we care? How does that have anything to do with Holmes? WTF?

I'm picking this up of course but I guess that's obvious since I own every movie RDJ has made that has been released on DVD (That I know of). He's been one of my fave actors since 1985's Weird Science and '87's Less Than Zero.
