It looks like 2010 is going to be the year Jay Baruchel gets mainstream success. That’s because while many know him from his great work on the short lived Undeclared, or his parts in Million Dollar Baby, Knocked Up, Fanboys and Tropic Thunder, this year will see Baruchel take the lead in his first comedy, She’s Out of My League, and then he’s the apprentice in Walt Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Add to that, he’s the lead voice in How to Train Your Dragon. Not bad for a kid from Canada.
But getting back to the trailer for She’s Out of My League. The premise is Baruchel plays an average Joe with not much going for him when out of the blue a successful and gorgeous woman falls for him. He’s stunned. So are his friends. The question then becomes how does he keep the girl. While the story about a guy not good enough for a girl or vice versa has been done many times, I laughed watching the trailer and am rooting for the film to be a success.
