Shia LaBeouf Talks INDIANA JONES 5

headline-shia-mutt-1.jpgAccording to a recent interview with the BBC, Shia LaBeouf says that Steven Spielberg has just “cracked the story” on “Indiana Jones 5″ and since it’s a slow news day, let’s talk about that for a minute.

Before I explain why this isn’t tre, I want to note that while “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” isn’t a particularly good movie and Spielberg hasn’t put less effort into a movie since “The Lost World”, it was a box office smash and clearly set up LaBeouf’s “Mutt Williams” for a new franchise where he could continue visually-recalling Marlon Brando and swinging from vines like a monkey.

Of course, Spielberg may have “cracked” it, but if there is a fifth “Indiana Jones”, I don’t expect Spielberg to be involved in anything other than a producing role, at most.  Also, Ford is clearly done (or done beyond a cameo) and then there’s the dreaded Lucas having to sign off on every script.  While Spielberg rassles with the “Tintin” movies and his long-in-development Abraham Lincoln biopic, I don’t see this project coming to fruition anytime soon.  Everyone, LaBeouf included, should breathe a sigh of relief at that.

Click here to see the full interview where LaBeouf also notes that “Wall Street 2″ (which he’s currently working on) is now officially called “Money Never Sleeps”.

  1. Well I hope Spielberg is still involved and that they are easing back into the saddle with Indy movies. Indy 4 was okay but not great, the aliens premise wasn't stupid as many seem to claim certainly no more so than Indy's tangles with Christan, Hindu, Atlantian gods & all sorts of other stuff in comics, games etc.

it was just poorly executed as a movie so fingers crossed they get it right next time round.

  3. Honestly, I don't want another Indiana Jones movie. The Crystal Skull really wasn't all that great and I don't think audiences are going to spend more money on a new movie even if it has Shia in it. I say we let that franchise end and not beat it to death until people forget how great the old ones are. We have to think to that there is a new generation of movie goers who if they keep on making Indiana Jones movies are going to grow up thinking that that is the standard for Indy movies. We absolutely cannot let that happen.

    • I think you're forgetting that Indiana Jones is a George Lucas franchise. Beating them to death such that young viewers think the new ones are the best they get is what he does best. For that reason I completely expect Indy 5 to eventually be made. Hopefully it bombs and puts the brakes on any more, but that's probably not likely either.

  5. Ok, seriously! This IS Harrison! And I’m F#CKING SERIOUS!

Stop giving Shia such shit! He’s a good kid, a fine young actor, and if he got a script that wasn’t as good as Raider, or didn’t know where the f#ck it was going half the time, well that’s not his fault.

He could use few more hard knocks- physically- for character. I’m not saying that he’s up for saving the world any time soon. But he did the best he could with what he had, and I’m proud of him for it.
