Sigourney Weaver Reveals Possible Plot Points in GHOSTBUSTERS 3

In an interview in the UK on Channel 4 [via AICN], Sigourney Weaver has released more info on the long-rumored Ghostbusters 3 than we’ve ever received. Weaver says while her role may be small, her character’s son Oscar, who was kidnapped in the second film by a crazed Peter MacNicol, has grown up and become a ghostbuster. But Ms. Weaver had an even greater revelation:

“I might be in it and I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part in it. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it – he might be a ghost.”

So will Oscar have to bust Venkman? Will Venkman begin a torrid love affair with Slimer? What does it all mean? Well, nothing right now. The Office co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are still working on the script. Perhaps the latest draft Weaver read had these elements, but remember: Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman all have to sign off on the script meaning that these plot points may be gone if Ghostbusters 3 ever gets made. Sadly, no one ever consults Ernie Hudson.

I love it…I LOVE IT. I really hate the idea though, but I don’t see how it could be bad. I mean the guys who are wrote Year One wrote this.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!! Bring on GB3!!!
I hope they keep the cheeky witty comedic dialogue and keep it a character piece, rather than just an FX film.

The recent game was superb and kept very faithful to the whole thing. If the film does the same, i will love it. A ghost Venkman? Yes! why not! I didnt see that coming, so thats already pretty cool if they do the unexpected.

I just hope it has spirit, (get it?) And hopefully it does something different and not just rehash the same ghosts for the sake of it. (except slimer) he is welcome.

What would also be quite cool, is if , just in mentioning, they joke about Egon dying his hair blond in the 80s to impress Janine, this would then explain away some of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon series, which was also part of our childhood.

time flies! i cant believe how old they all look now, and if you watched Ghostbusters just before heading off to see Zombieland at the cinema recently youd know exactly what i mean! Ernie Hudson (the oldest GB?) is still acting, probably the most active along with Bill Murray, but as far as I can tell he never gets any major roles, and Rick Moranis retired after mainly doing vocal parts in major family/childrens movies. Harold Ramis is still writing/directing and acting (I think Knocked Up was the last movie I saw him in), and Dan Aykroyd is more of an “AlienBuster” than GhostBuster nowadays, since he has a fascination of searching for real UFOs!
