Mike Judge and Alec Berg’s Silicon Valley is one of the best comedies on television, which is somewhat surprising given that it’s about the minute intricacies of a small business. The series manages to be both a hilariously crude and satirical sendup of the tech world while simultaneously being a fantastically detailed look at the perils, pitfalls, and occasionally triumphs of starting a business. Silicon Valley has shown its brilliance by marrying to two together in wonderfully unexpected ways for two seasons now, and from the looks of the Season 3 trailer, it won’t be slowing down on either front.

As you may recall, Season 2 of the HBO series ended with Richard (Thomas Middleditch) essentially voted out of running his own company, Pied Piper, because it has grown too big for him to handle. (I won’t say he’s done a good job of it up until now, but maybe a surprising job). It means not only that he has lost control, but that Erlich (the wonderful T.J. Miller) has as well, and while they struggle against their new overlords (who may, it turns out, have done the right thing), they also have to worry about Jared (Zach Woods) creating horrific merchandise that is an affront to all visual aesthetics. Check out the new trailer below:

Though the late Christopher Evan Welch’s presence is still missed on the series, bringing in Suzanne Cryer as Laurie Bream has added a new dimension to the dynamics on the business side, and helped to include another woman in the main cast (which also includes Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Amanda Crew, and Matt Ross). Whether she proves to ultimately be a friend or foe, though, remains to be seen. One thing we can say for sure is that Silicon Valley seems set to remain a fantastically astute and funny portrait of a small tech company, and the nerds who run it. Long live Pied Piper! Just not those jackets …

Silicon Valley will return for its 10-episode third season on April 24th at 10 p.m. on HBO.
