Dimension Films has released a new full-length Sin City: A Dame to Kill For for directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s sequel.  The film stars Josh Brolin as the physically altered Dwight (played by Clive Owen in the first film), who is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord (Eva Green), and then watches his life go straight to hell.  This trailer focuses heavily on the returning members of the cast, specifically Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, and Bruce Willis.  There’s plenty of action and stylized visuals on display, but even after a number of trailers, images, posters, etc. I’m still having troubling drumming up anything but indifference towards the follow-up.  It looks fine, but 2006 was a very long time ago.

Here’s the official synopsis for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For:

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.

i loved the first movie, but i’m also finding difficulty being overly excited for this. there are pretty much only two things that are compelling me to see this: JGL, and naked Eva Green

My decision to see this will be swayed by RT. If it’s 70% or higher I’m in. Been burned by too many bad movies lately that looked promising.

      like the POS Godzilla?

Don’t worry, Michael Bay is making a new Transformers… just for you!

Now go play with the worms in the garden…

I know the story with Dwight and Marv is prequel material, but how is Hartigan in this? He shoots himself in the head at the end of the first movie, and he was incarcerated up to seeing Nancy for the first time in the strip club, so how he have any scenes with her?

      He exists in Nancy’s head.

I’m looking forward to this, only because out of all the Sin City stories I’ve read, I thought A Dame to Kill For was the best one. When the first Sin City came out I ended up reading all of the books.

I have faith in Rodriguez, guy knows what hes doing. People saying he fell off because of the Machete movies, dont know what those movies are about.

they are about a machete I suppose.

Recently saw machete kills and it’s flagrant tribute /send up of old exploitation movies & B movies- which is to say it’s unapologetically exactly what it purports to be.

Rodriguez did as much with the first Sin City, and with similar treatment this particular yarn requires an approach that’s exactly that: flagrantly tributing it’s source material & completely unapologetic about it. :) Expect higher Rotten tomatoes scores than recent by-the-book blockbusters. This flick ain’t got none to do with any o’ that >:]

I LOVE THIS! This is everything I wanted and more! I loved them finding a way to bring Hartigan back into this and seeing Marv and Dwight team up, just gave me chills. Sin City’s one of my favourite movies of all time, and if this is just an expanison to it, I’m just as happy with that.

I’m keen for this movie but this trailer felt really flat…

Marv was the most interesting character from first. Glad to see him back. The action looks to be more ballz to the wall too. I think this could be better than the first. Robert Rodriquez has made some of the best action movies ever. So there is always hope he can strike gold again. We will see.
