The first trailer for director Scott Derrickson’s new horror film Sinister has been released. The film stars Ethan Hawke as a true crime novelist who moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place, in an effort to discover his next big story. When he finds a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, he realizes he may have made a huge mistake by moving into the house. The trailer is a bit heavy handed when it comes to exposition, as characters state flat-out what everything means (“That’s the family that used to live here!” “That symbol is obviously a pagan demon who feeds on children’s souls!”). That said, there look to be some genuinely terrifying scares and as a fan of Derrickson’s The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I’m game to check out what he has in store with Sinister.

Here’s the synopsis for Sinister:
A true crime novelist (Ethan Hawke) struggling to find his next big story, moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.

So… its the Amityville Horror… only hopefully not a cheesy
so who is behind the camera and did the filming?
it’s not any of the family….they can all be seen even in the
hanging shots.
if it’s the demon….then how are they in the scene?
where did the demon get the camera, the film stock, have it processed and the editing?
It’s a demon, I’m pretty sure it doesnt go into it’s nearest branch of happy snaps and get them developed….
I have watched the movie and you will find out how everything about who films it and all of that. It is a very cleverly thought out movie! You should watch it.
looks awesome in terms of style. Some genuine scares. I am curious to see this
Shining vs. Insidious
Horror movies that involve kids are also usually the most f***ing terrifying things ever…
haha, that is soooo true!!!
i usually give anything with Ethan Hawke a chance, he has great taste in scripts
That’s one scary trailer.
wow, that was the first trailer that legit scared me. hah
The bad guy looks like the lead singer of every stupid Norwegian black metal band. Not impressed.
Glad to see the producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious is really branching out.
Great trailer but scared the shit out of me because I just moved into that house! You should think about having a screening here at the house now that would be scary
