First Teaser Poster for SKYFALL

     May 17, 2012

The first teaser poster for the new James Bond film Skyfall has gone online.  It’s not really much, but I guess the word “teaser” should have clued us in on that front.  It plays on the classic Bond imagery while hinting at a bit of a darker tone, and that may or may not be the London Underground.  I’m eager to see what Sam Mendes will do with the Bond universe, and he’s off to a great start as he’s assembled an incredible cast anchored by Javier Bardem as the villain.  This is just a teaser for what’s to come, and we should have a much better idea of what to expect once the teaser trailer debuts on Monday, May 21st at 8:30am BST.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  And if you missed any of Steve’s set visit coverage, including a video blog recap and interviews with director Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, producer Barbara Broccoli, Berenice Marlohe, and Naomie Harris and Ola Rapace, be sure to check it out.  Skyfall opens on November 9th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Skyfall:

Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time.  In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.  As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Looks like they learnt from Quantum and are embracing the cliches while still doing something new. Very excited!

Quantum wasn’t that bad right… The plane stunt was pretty intense.

Oh come on, Quantum was great. Nobody I know has said anything bad about it.

at least we had sexy legs and birds in bikinis n roger moore’s films bring back the 70s

I really like Daniel Craig, ever since Layer Cake. But, this guy is aging badly. I think he has one movie left, if they can’t find somebody before then.

He’s 44 give him a break. He is aging fine a lot better then most people at that age. I mean look at Robert Downey Jr he is 47 but looks 50 in some roles (they seem to add some youth to him as Tony Stark).

      • 40something

WTF are you talking about? Aging of a mid-40 guy? Come on, how old are you – 14? Did you ever try to watch a movie of the aging Sean Connery when he was young? Seriously: Calm down. Now.

Is the film poster dead? This is basically a muted version of The Living Daylights poster, except it looks like they saved money by hiring a guy who know photoshop instead of a leggy model.
But the Bond poster used to be a amazing thing, Thunderball (Bond in a underwater battle), Live and Let Die (Bond in front of a Tarot deck with speedboats and alligators), these are iconic posters. They also are a testament to the what a poster can do. Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the old posters not only told you what the films tone was, but a little of what to expect from the action, a glowering villain in the background, and a shout out to the cast.
It also allowed a actual artist a chance to show their craft, not some photoshoper.
If anything can be learned from the success of the Mondo posters, it’s that the time has come for REAL posters to make a comeback. Indulge a little!

This is a teaser poster. It does exactly what it needs to as people who don’t follow this stuff walk by:
“Oh look, new Bond movie is finally coming… Skyfall, and it’s still Daniel Craig. Awesome.”
Then, they walk on. Does exactly what it’s supposed to at this point, if you ask me.
