Sony has released a teaser trailer for next summer’s 3D Smurfs movie.  And when I say teaser trailer…I mean teaser trailer.  I think the clip has about 4 seconds of Smurfs screen time.  But with a release date of August 3, 2011 and the fact that the film is still shooting in New York City, they probably don’t have much rendered footage.  However, a teaser trailer is designed to raise awareness, and the clip does just that.  Hit the jump to check it out.  Smurfs stars Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara and Anton Yelchin.

Here’s the synopsis:

In the 3D August 3, 2011 release, the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village and they tumble from their magical world into ours – in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

    Ah….that is so bad.

Come on. It doesn't look THAT bad. There is barely anything shown. But if they were hoping to raise hopes, they failed on that front.

    Avatar…..2?

I really don't think it's that bad, I really like how they are going film it like Alvin & the Chipmunks. Now I'm not saying that I am a huge fan of this, but I think it will be great for the kids

I am so excited this is being made, they only thing that is stopping me from being exstatic is PERVERT HERMAN, they should not have a guy who has a child pornography conviction associated with a movie geared towards children!!!

Those charges were dropped, stupid! It was all “vintage art material” that was found, well over 50 years old. Herman is a “kitch collector”. Make yourself knowledgable before you post.
