Variety reports that Boyega will join Half of a Yellow Sun, an adaptation of the novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The story tells of the secessionist African state of Biafra, which struggled to establish its independence within the nation of Nigeria in the late 1960s. The picture will begin shooting in Nigeria and London next month. Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger) is also in talks for a lead role. Boyega’s other project Creeping Zero will wait until Fall to start production.
Variety also reported on Doughty’s casting in Snow Piercer. Directed by Bong Joon-ho (The Host), Snow Piercer is set in a world covered in snow and ice in which a train full of travelers struggle to co-exist. The film also stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell and Tilda Swinton. Doughty’s directorial debut Vengeance Waits will feature the Pusher-remake’s Richard Coyle in a starring role; production is scheduled to start in September.
