The divide between the two Snow White movies is finally starting to widen: the “light comedic adventure” version of Tarsem Sing’s Mirror, Mirror vs. the directorial debut of Rupert Sanders and his dark, gritty interpretation, Snow White and the Huntsman. Today, we have a look at some footage from the latter version. While there’s not a lot of screen time for Snow White (Kristen Stewart) or the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), we do get a glimpse at the dark side of the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron).

Slated to open on June 1, 2012, Snow White and the Huntsman is a twist on the classic fairy tale in which the Huntsman, appointed to kill Snow White, becomes her protector and joins her in the quest to kill the Evil Queen herself. Hit the jump to check out the footage and check back here tomorrow for the first trailer.

The first look at footage comes from an Entertainment Tonight exclusive [via Bleeding Cool]:

So it looks like Chris Hemsworth will trade his hammer (Thor) for an axe, Kristen Stewart will trade her character’s uselessness (Twilight) for a sword and shield and Charlize Theron will get to be evil and look good doing it. I’m glad to see the two projects are finally diverging in tone. Which one do you think will come out on top?

Here’s the official synopsis for Snow White and the Huntsman:

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her.  But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her.  Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders.

  1. Im the first one yeahhhhhhhhhhh…anyways Im not sure if I wanna see this movie I guess the trailer will tell me if Im going to be seeing this movie.

  2. I am seeing this.

They had Charlize bathing in a white milky substance ffs. Any movie that has that sexy woman emerging herself nekkid in liquid is a MUST SEE!

Kristen looked surprisingly good. I’m noticing her pretty more and more.

  3. If Kristen Stewart wasn’t in this film, I would actually be really syched about it and directed by a good director. But she is and it is not, so Im not. Mirror, Mirror is directed by Tarsem Singh and has a great cast. If they can get a good performance out of Stewart, then Ill see it, but I doubt it.

      • LMAO Connie! It’s easy to spot the jealous Rob P fans isn’t it?

        Anyway…

Kristen’s SW looks fantastic, Charlize looks scary as the evil queen who wants to steal youth. Really excited to see this film.

Mirror Mirror might appeal to the kids but the stills didn’t impress me and Julia Roberts is annoying

      • kinda like how its easy to spot the kristen stewart fans who can’t stand if when people don’t care for her. right?

  4. Mirror Mirror has a great cast

And so has snow white an the huntsman , i will take Charlize over julia Robert anyday. Armie is good but chris hemsworth is very good and charismatic too. I’ve seen lily collins in the blind side and her perfomance was more than forgetable , She wasn’t very good in abduction either. Stewart has proved with into the wild and the Runaways that she can give great perfomance when working with a good cast and a decent script . The teaser looks very good i love the actors so i am definitely going to see it

  5. Snow White and the Huntsman will be better than Mirror, Mirror because it has the stronger cast (Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Ray Winstone and Nick Frost) and it will be at least be the more critically successful movie. Charlize Theron looks like an evil villain as the Queen unlike Julia Roberts whom the crew of Mirror, Mirror were too lazy to not give her a Cruella de Vil transformation.

  6. Fantastic issues altogether, you just gained a logo new reader. What might you recommend about your publish that you just made a few days ago? Any positive?
