sons of anarchy season 7LOS ANGELES, July 17, 2014 – It all comes down to this.  Sons of Anarchy, the highest-rated series in the history of FX, will begin its 7th and final season on Tuesday, September 9th at 10 PM ET/PT with a special 1 hour & 45 minute episode.  Immediately following the premiere, the live post-show “Anarchy Afterword” will air in its entirety on FX.

Hosted by Chris Franjola (Chelsea Lately) and produced by Emmy nominated Mob Scene Creative + Productions, “Afterword” will air live on FX twice this season – the season premiere and the series finale.  It will stream live on FXNOW three other times throughout the season. The episodes will be posted on FXNOW as well as online the following day for VOD viewing and remain there until one month after the series finale. In addition to watching, fans of the show will have the opportunity to ask their own questions via a toll-free call-in number and the show’s official Twitter and Facebook pages.

Sons of Anarchy is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious outlaw motorcycle club’s (MC) desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, charming. The MC must confront threats from drug dealers, corporate developers, and overzealous law officers. Behind the MC’s familial lifestyle and legally thriving automotive shop is a ruthless and illegal arms business driven by the seduction of money, power, and blood.

In season six Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) has finally solidified his leadership of Sons of Anarchy by murdering Clay Morrow, his stepfather, for past sins.  Season Six ends with his formidable mother Gemma committing an unpardonable sin.  Unbeknownst to Jax, she brutally murders his wife, Dr. Tara Knowles, thinking she’s protecting the club.  Juice Ortiz kills Sheriff Eli Roosevelt to protect Gemma.  Season Seven begins ten days later with Jax in jail on a parole violation, grappling with the loss of the woman he loved.  With the club’s full support, he sets in motion the brutal machinations that will lead to complete and merciless retribution.

Sons of Anarchy’s sixth season notched its most viewers to date, capturing 7.48 million Total Viewers and 5.11 million Adults 18-49.  Season 6 holds the record as FX’s most-watched season of an original series in the network’s history in Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 and other key demos.

Any one else ever notice when Jax refers to America as The States? I have never once heard a real American refer to America as The States and it just bugs me because it clearly reminds me he is British.

No. He’s still a badass and Jax lives to bug people who let unimportant minutiae get under their skin :)

Honestly I think Jax is a horrible person and if he was a real life person I would be disgusted to see him called a bad ass in real life.

Jax is a murdering, drug muling, gun dealing, woman beating, felon-gangster who beats and threatens his friends and family. Good people who want to protect his wife and children from violence are terrified of him as he has made it clear he will murder them if they get in his way. He is a pimp who cheats on his wife, orders drugged politicians raped by transexual hookers so he can later have them blackmailed, blakcmails naive but good hearted teens who he tricked into performing sex acts with transexual hookers, helps murderers escape prison and murders innocent guards in the process, orders his subordinates to kill everyone from rival gang member to grieving mothers, to judges. Jax has disposed of corpses, intimidated witnesses, started a chain of events that led to the murder of school children. He has brokered deals between gangs that would put money in his own pocket. These deals will flood the streets with guns and lead to the early deaths of innocent victims of gang warfare. He has framed people for his own murders and sent his own loyal subordinates to their execution. He refused to let his wife leave and take his children away from a life of violence even though he preaches that is what he wants. His wife was consequently brutally beaten to death and his children now will grow up without a mother. His ex wife has lived in fear of him for years and has had her son torn from her arms by him. People have been beaten blinded and disfigured by him or at his command for infractions as insignificant as having sat on his motorcycle. People who have only ever been a friend of a club and lost everything for being a friend are still forced to earn their keep in his good graces. Lives have been ruined and ended because of him. The guilty and the innocent have all suffered in his wake and Jax deserves to die painfully and slowly.

And that’s why we watch TV shows. So that we can root for the people who we wouldn’t root for in real life.

Yup, he’s a horrible guy but then he reads his daddys book on the roof and cries a little and turns it all around….until next week.

I agree. Still a compelling character though.

We call it the States up here in Canada as well so I never thought twice about it. Interesting note.

Jax doesn’t write the script. Neither does the actor playing him
