A new trailer has gone online for Source Code.  Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon), the film follows a soldier (Jake Gyllenhaal) who must re-live the last eight minutes of a doomed train passenger’s life in order to discover the bomber who destroyed the train.  I’ve heard good things about the flick from people who have seen it and even if I hadn’t, I would still be first in line to see Jones’ follow-up to Moon.

Hit the jump to check out the short (only about a minute) trailer.  Source Code also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, and Jeffrey Wright.  The film opens April 1st.

Here’s the official synopsis for Source Code:

When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the Source Code, a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).

  1. I don’t post. I’m not a hater. I want to like this so, so, so much — and I can’t. I loved moon. I love the concept. But there’s something about this trailer looks so low-budget and cheesy that I had to write this.

  2. Yes, I agree with you. The effects look very low budget and the poster unfortunately looks like a bad photoshop project. I read about 30 pages of the script and it was VERY GOOD, so good that I stopped reading it so I wouldn’t spoil the moviegoing experience. But I must say this trailer does not evoke the script, to me. Also, the casting is off. Jake isn’t that big of a box office draw. Not really what I was expecting as a follow up to “MOON”.
