Earlier this year we were introduced to the new Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. The decision to reboot the web-slinger once again, came about as a result of an unprecedented collaboration with Marvel Studios that has Marvel taking the creative lead on the new Spider-Man movies distributed by Sony. The decision to age Peter Parker down and tell a high school-set story was one of the first made when Marvel was granted creative control of the character, and while Homecoming will certainly stand out in that regard, the question fans have now is how long will this idea last? Collider’s own Steve Weintraub got the chance to speak with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at Comic-Con 2016 and asked him if the intention is to keep Peter in high school if they get the chance to make sequels. Feige said that Peter's school years will not be too dissimilar for what the students of Hogwarts go through each of their years, which was one of the early ideas they had for the movies. Though it’s assumed we’ll be seeing a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, an official announcement has not been released. Spider-Man: Homecoming opens July 7, 2017.

One of the bigger revelations at Comic-Con 2016 was during the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 presentation at the Marvel panel. Fans there were officially introduced to a smaller version of Groot, now affectionately known as “Baby Groot.” This led to a lot of questions from the fans, particularly, does this mean Groot still has his memories? Collider’s Steven Weintraub posed this very question to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige backstage shortly after the Marvel panel, and Feige answered by comparing the character to Spock in Star Trek. Keige said that Groot does remember and that he is still Groot - like Spock from Search for Spock and The Voyage Home.

The new trailer for Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick has been released, giving us a better look at both the young and adult versions of the title character, Christian Wolff. As it was explained in the film’s first trailer, Wolff is a special boy with amazing, genius-level skill sets and crippling anxiety which later turns him into a cold, calculating character that seems to shun normal human interaction. Wolff then begins working with some of the world’s worst and most dangerous criminals. The film also stars J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow. The Accountant opens in U.S. theaters on October 14th.

Lionsgate has unveiled the very first trailer for director Mel Gibson‘s World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, which marks Gibson’s first directorial effort since 2006’s Apocalypto. Based on a true story, the film stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond Doss, a conscientious collaborator and Army medic who refused to bear arms during World War II, but ended up saving 75 men during the bloodiest battle of the war without firing a single bullet. The movie is written by Robert Schenkkan, Andrew Knight, and Braveheart scribe Randall Wallace, and stars Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths, and Vince Vaughn. The movie is scheduled to open on November 4th.

Hey Collider Crew! I love the show and watch everyday. With the news from Celebration of Star Wars: Episode 8 opening immediately after The Force Awakens, do you think they're breaking the tradition of opening in space? Could they open in space and cut to Luke and Rey without it feeling choppy or broken? How do you want the film to open? Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Lewis writes:

Who has the best voice in Hollywood? Most commanding? Most unique? Most sexy? I know you are all Star Wars nerds so you can't choose James Earl Jones.
