With Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot currently filming on location in LA, amateur photographers have jumped at the chance to snap shots of Spidey running around the streets. Just a couple of days ago, we brought you footage of a stuntman in the Spider-Man suit performing an action scene in the street. It appears that this same sequence has been filming for the last few days, and someone finally got a really clear shot of the stuntman in action.

Hit the jump to check out the image. The untitled 3D Spider-Man reboot starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is set for release on July 3, 2012.

As you can see, this is clearly a Spidey suit made specifically for stunts, and not for oogling. It’s much less dramatic than the official still that was released last week.  This super clear shot (thanks MTV) does, however, give us our first look at the mask as well as another look at those mechanical web-shooters the internet has been buzzing about. I quite liked the suit unveiled in the official still, and I’ll reserve judgment on this suit until it’s shown on film, after color-corection, etc.  It is kinda cool to see the stunt suit so clearly though. What about you? What do you think about the suit so far?

    • okay, not just me then. I was thinking something similar. I admit I was never a HUGE fan of the Raimi movie suit but this is a bit funky as well. I really wanted to not care about this film but I may just see it… on DVD… as a rental.

  1. Terrible, and so was the suit shown in the previous news item. How is he supposed to have made this, if it is rubber moulded to his exact physique?

For all the flaws of the third film – the second is one of the greatest comic book films ever made – Raimi got some things consistently right over his trilogy. One of those was a fabric suit. Even with the webbing, it was more or less plausible that Peter Parker could have made it on his own at home.

He doesn’t have Batman’s billions; how is he supposed to have laser-scanned his body and put this together without anyone finding out?

    • YEAH! I mean I can’t BELIEVE none of these points have been revealed to us! That HAS to mean they won’t be told in the movie! UGH, Hollywood. Getting masterpieces WRONG.

      • I’ll be very surprised if it’s justified in the film.

And yes, Cameron, I read the article. I know it’s a stunt suit; I specifically referred to both this AND the previous reveal of the ‘proper’ suit. If they are photographing it, it’s obviously supposed to bear some passing resemblance to the actual outfit, and I’m free to express my opinion that I don’t like it.

I’m not sold on this need to make everything out of rubber for superhero films. I guess a lot of Hollywood-types spend a fair amount of time tied up in basements on their weekends…

  2. Any superhero suit wouldn’t look the best in random shots. Wait for the official movie pictures. So far the suit looks very close to the classic suit from the comics. It also has the practicality apparently of being based on the real clothing of a speedsuit which is a vast improvement over Raimi’s Hollywood designer costume with silver web highlights.

    • The suit looks TERRIBLE. And you sound like a troll when you make ridiculous statements like “So far the suit looks very close to the classic suit from the comics.” What comics were YOU reading, because this looks NOTHING like the real Spider-man suit. Ironically, in contrast to your trendy Raimi bashing, his suit actually does look like the real suit. But nice try.

    • Oh, ok.. IT’S A STUNT SUIT! That explains why it looks so awful. Stunt suits don’t look anything like the actual suit. Oh wait, that’s friggin stupid. The suit should look like the suit no matter what. This is the suit and it looks like crap.

  3. Not to fond of a reboot so soon myself, but you should actually read the article before posting before you make yourself sound like an ass! This is not a 100% exact representation of how the suit will look in the movie. This is a suit made specifically for stunts! If you look closely, you can even tell that the rubber mask was made to fit a helmet underneath.

  4. This so suit (so fair) looks pretty god damned horrible. Even the clear picture of the official suit. If they are trying to keep with the original via web shooters and all that’s fine, I am with all of the above comments though making points about how the f is he supposed to make the suit on his own looking the way it does. Just saying, this reboot is going to lick balls. Not looking forward to this already, and the more and more I learn about it (web shooters aside…that’s pretty cool actually) it looks horrible. I still think they picked the worst possible person to play a high schooler. Last I checked, that dude is turning 30 soon. So yeah, sequels come out every 2 years or so, maybe 3…the guy is going to be having a mid life crisis his senior year of high school. wtf.

  5. Y’all need to chill out.

His eyes ARE NOT RED. They’re white.

Look at his whole face. He’s at a red light.

  6. I love how you’re all willing to accept that being bitten by a radio-active spider gave a teenager super-powers, but can’t accept that he could make himself a costume. Pick your battles. And Raimi did such a great job explaining this in his film by showing him sketching it in a book? Maybe if you analyzed your own arguments as closely as you do out of context pictures you would come off as such ignoramuses.

  7. Not cool, not cool at all! it looks more like spiderman 2099. Why nobody at marvel stop that guy from picking those awfull decisions, Emma Stone was perfect for Mary Jane not Gwen Stacy i bet she will do a good job but come on that suit sucks!

  8. It may be a stunt costume but that is the full design of the new movie suit. Racing stripes down the legs, silver running shoe accents, blue fingertips, barley perceptible webs (more on that in a second), lots of extreme swooshes as accents and no full belt line. All on a fairly rubbery, latex runners compression suite with raised seam piping. The eyes are red due to a fill light coming off of a cop car flashing light in front of him off of camera. The eyes are white-ish. The spider on the front has legs that run the whole way down to the crotch and the ‘webs’ on the costume are more of a cube pattern without the web like droop a web pattern normally has.

  9. It has to be a screenshot from a Spidey videogame xD

But Damn it! I think that Garfield (not the cat) is a great choice for the character, but the costume design is awful. Wakala!

    What the hell?!

  10. You guys all DISGUST ME! Is this what being a fan of genre/geek films has boiled down to? Whining about how much you hate the new Spiderman costume based on a still photo. Film is about color, lighting, framing, and movement…. and no one can judge how something will look in the final cut from one spy photo. Seriously! And who is the slag that made a cut on the Superman Returns costume? That was one of the best (and only new) elements in the film.

I hate hearing all the belling aching. You are all a bunch of colossal buzz kills.

    EPIC FAILS all around!!!!

    • No need to offense, pal.

Films are also about costume design, and the job done with Spidey’s is not that great. Anyone who knows Spider-Man closely are wondering why the heck this suit has those ugly stripes on his legs, the thin stripes of the arms, the hands and of course, the waist. I can see the costume designer talking to camera saying something like: “Oh, we wanted spidey to look more modern, so we aded those stripes.. and removed the one from the waist”. That’s lame!

And about Spuerman Returns.. well… you just don’t read comics, right? So, end of line.

      • Yes, a superheros costume is more important to them than what some studio hack thinks that costume needs to be. There’s a art to capturing that essence, I have yet to see any art or creative or anything remotely Spider-Man ish about this film.
I would rather they go all Batman Forever, and go full comic book and have some fun, instead of seeing the 500 Days of Summer version.

  11. Hey all u guys sayin peter parker cudnt make this suit, while lookin through youtube at spidermans possible suits i found a guy who actually makes his own at home and his venom and carnage suit r dam good and they are crafted and detailed rubber on the most part, fitted to his body and hes like 20 or sumfin so it is possible….but do u reli wanna see peter surfin ebay for stuff to make a costume -_- or peter sewing…..kinda gays up ur hero…aslong as they show him makin the web shooters its sweet with me :) oh and btw other pics eg perez hiltons show white eyes and more detail on suit…im guessin the fast pace and spotlights caused red to sorta merge in this pic

  12. I loved the Raimi versions (the 3rd somewhat less) and was upset when they took Spider-man away from him. I will give this film a shot. The suit was never an issue as far as I’m concerned.

  13. I don’t know why you guys are complaining about this suit being unfaithful to the comics, because it looks exactly like the suit in “Spider-Man: With Great Power” by David Lapham and Toney Harris.

    • Really? You should take a closer look. I think the differences are too obvious. This costume (the one pictured in this page) looks more like a mix of Peter Parker + Ben Reilly + Spiderman 2099 + Costume designer own choices = This crap of Spidey costume :/

Still, I’m looking forward to this film.

      • Actually, Jackie is right. The suit does bare a slight resemblance to one of the costumes that appeared in that series. Apart from the eyes, the symbol and the design on the arms, it looks pretty dead on.

  14. HAVE YA’LL SEEN THE CAST? THIS MOVIE IS DEAD ON! Some of ya’ll will never be satisfied. If you can’t find anything wrong…you’ll make up something! Get a life and enjoy the movie! :-)

  15. I think the pic is entirely CGI, it just looks too fake. Even the background has a CGI-y feeling to it! Don’t know if this the actual suit, but pretty sure this isn’t an actual photo of it.

  16. The pic is either entirely bogus or engineered in some way. Shadows don’t cast like that and everything looks too polished.

  17. It looks really silly. He looks like one of the those guys who dresses up in a spider-man suit for kids’ birthday parties.

  18. … this Spider-Guy is sponsored by Rebook :D maybe that’s how he wanted to impress Gwen, as opposed to Spider-Man wanting a car because of MJ…
