After a superb amateur shot of Spider-Man running through the streets of Downtown L.A. hit the web, other non-professionals have returned to the on-location shoot of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot and captured some great shots from the set.

Hit the jump to check them out. [Updated: We've included new set photos of some web-slinging action of Spidey!]

Here are the images, via Marie Claire (The previous source we credited had stolen the images from Marie Claire. We apologize for directing you to the wrong site).

The web-slinging image come via On Location Vacations.

These are evidently stunt shots, and not photos of Andrew Garfield who is playing the superhero in the movie, as we see Spider-Man running through traffic attempting to catch up with a pick-up truck.

Man, I really cant get over how shitty the costume is. I guess I am stuck on the shoes. What are they, Spidy sneakers? I want to hate this movie though…maybe its just me.

    • Adam Chitwood

My guess is that those shoes are for the stuntman’s benefit and will be edited out/fixed in post-production. Gotta remember that this suit’s specially made for the stuntman, and not for close-ups.

The updated costume would’ve been justified if they went with the bigger eyes. Since, in the comic Spider-Man had different costumes with the bigger eyes. But, they decided to go with the CLASSIC tiny eyes and re-imagine the rest of the suit. That’s dumb ass hell. My two cents.

    • your mom

I agree. I had really high hopes for this movie until I saw this elementary school contest winning spidey costume.

  • Matt Oney

Why did they do this? Give it back to Sam Raimi. This is going to suck!

  • Pete

It never changes. Despite it being the biggest Internet cliché there is, up there with living in your parent’s basement, people STILL insist on mewling about fucking superhero costumes. It’s astonishing. It’s like clockwork. Have you any self-awareness whatsoever? Can you grasp the notion that there is little sadder on the Internet than fucking whinnying about costumes? Jesus.

  • Yahzee Skellington

Man! How many days takes to shoot a single chase scene! Unless… Spider-Guy can’t actually swing through buildings… and of course showcase his Spidey-Rebook shoes…

  • Ryan

wow u guys are stupid. The costume u see in the pic is a stunt man costume and the real costume looks NOTHING like it, it looks WAAYY more better. I think this film will be AMAZING, as i just recently watched 500 days of summer by the director of this movie, MARC WEBB. 500 days of summer was PERFECT in so many ways and it really makes you go through a roller coaster of emotions.

    • Yahzee Skellington

… it can’t be be different or in your words “look NOTHING like it” cause then will have some serious continuity problems…

  • Old Man’s Balls

Why the hell would the stunt man be wearing a completely different costume? Thats retarded.

  • rattattat

Oh my god oh my god…what have they done with the costume blah blah blah.
GROW UP. When will superhero films be done, buried and over with

  • Migz13

ok.. why the hell are people arguing about the changes in the suit?
first and foremost those “shoes” are just their for stunt work.. it’ll probably get edited out after the shooting wraps up. I’m welcome to any ‘spins’ they made in the suit, that way people won’t be seeing another raimi-spider-man suit in this REBOOT.
    read it again people… REBOOT.

  • sense 11

I think the suit looks a lot better then the Raimi version. It looks like the comics and not like a fucking glitter fest.

    These pics are sick

  • Old Man’s Balls

This suit DOES NOT look like the one in the comics.

The suit should look like the one worn by Spider-Man. The Rami Spider-Man suit was dead on, just because this is a reboot doesn’t mean that it should be the opposite of dead on.

  • sense 11

Everyone complaining about the suit is a little biatch drama queen. Its not even the real suit, its a stuntman suit.

I laugh at all those who defend Sam Raimi’s Spiderman so wholeheartedly. That suit sucked, the green goblin suit sucked, the venom suit sucked, all the crying scenes sucked, Aunt May sucked donkey scrotum, the entire melodramatic tone of the trilogy sucked.

The only reason the suit looked the way it did was to match the CGI Spiderman design. As opposed to making the CGI spidey look more real to match a realistic suit. Just go back and watch the first movie now, those effects did not age well.

    • Old Man’s Balls

The Rami suit looks EXACTLY like the one in the comic book, if you can’t see that you are an idiot. Nevermind the rest of the movie, this is about the suit.

Stuntman suit? Where the hell is this coming from? How would it work that there would be two completely different suits? Why would the stunt man not be wearing the exact same suit? Or do you mean how during the filming of The Dark Knight all the Batman stuntmen wore Superman costumes?

      • Joe

It’s sorta like in back to the future where they had 3 different delorean’s for different kinds of shots. Stunt shots, with all the action, have a less detailed suit because it’s cheaper to make and lord knows what kind of damage kind happen to it. For more dramatic shots, like the one in the press image, will have a more detailed suit.

Honestly, it’s a fucking movie though. I love how people are bitching and moaning about stupid, insignificant stuff. I love Raimi’s movies (except for 3) and I’m willing to see what Mr Webb will do. I’m a fan of comics too but seriously guys? It’s not like anyone’s life is on the line. Instead of arguing on a comment thread why not do something a bit more productive?

…oh so the Spider-Guy does actually swing through buildings! O.o Incredible!
    Go Raimi!!

  • Dr. Doom

I’m just glad these shots show him actually web swinging using practical effects. Even though I love CGI, this is pretty amazing.

  • nanahara

seriously guys, for one thing the costume ofthis reboot, or that of the orignal trilogy are not EXACT to the comic, since there’s thousands of versions that have been drawn over the years in the maaaany issues of Spiderman comics.
Also there is such a thing of the stunt mans suit being slightly different since there won’t be close ups of the stuntman, andhey if you guys are such big fans of Spiderman you should know that Raimi messed up in many ways. For one thing the webbing is from web catridges, and not a never ending supply from his wrists.
I mean Raimi killed off Osborne for christ sake, and made the WORST Venom possible.

  • Sparky

I have to remember this is a test suite. I won’t judge until I see an official trailer.

    • Dongle

I hope they don’t use that suit. It looks garbage.
      Raimi’s SpiderMan trilogy sucked.
I think the director of a superhero film should sport a
personality similar to that hero. Batman + Chris Nolan was a
      perfect fit.
I think a SpiderMan movie would be better off in the hands of
      Kevin Smith or McG.
Raimi should direct a LOBO film and Guillermo del Toro
needs to helm a Sandman movie.

Mechanical web-shooters and practical stuntwork, even for web-slinging! Much better than the CGI-fests the Raimi films were. The Spidey-Doc Ock building fight is where CGI really started to lose me. Hard to care when absolutely everything in a shot is obvious CGI. I’m starting to really look forward to the reboot. But I never much liked the Raimi films. Too campy and horrible casting on the leads. The suit looked good except for the webbing looking silvery and the red being off in all the CGI of the first film but the last shot. And having the “camera” constantly move with CGI Spidey made for boring visuals. Action should move across the screen. I guess we were just supposed to be mesmerized.

  • Notna

The suit is just the outer costume of spiderman.what’s more important is how the actual film will pan out and not just based on the look of the costumes. The movie isn’t out yet, heck, the trailer isn’t out yet and people are already condemning it.Even if the suit looked perfect but the movie sucked, would you still want to watch it?I’m really looking forward to this because they’ve got pretty talented people behind this like Marc and Andrew.
