New Video and Images from SPIDER-MAN Reboot Set

     January 30, 2011

Over the past few weeks, we’ve peppered the site with various set images and unofficial set videos from director Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot.  Today we’re bringing you a few more artifacts from the film in the form of, you guessed it, set images and an unofficial video.

Hit the jump to check out both the video (which features the web-slinger doing his thing atop an 18-wheeler) and the images (which showcase Spidey clinging to things nonradioactive-spider-bite victims wouldn’t typically cling to).  Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, and Martin Sheen, Sony’s Spider-Man reboot hits theaters on July 3, 2012.

Here’s the video:

Here are a few of the images [from On Location News] [via Coming Soon]:

    Costume is very…informative.

  • LameCity

    Yep, still looks Lame City.

No spider on the back of the costume. That’s interesting.

    • Chris

Actually, there is. In the photo where he’s pressed against the back of the rental truck you can see on if you look really closely. Because the blue is so dark it’s hard to make out.

  • aaronsullivan

Not a big enough Spiderman nut to be opinionated about the costume, but I love the practical approach for the swinging fx.

  • chuck tanner

I would love to be Andrew Garfield right now,

how many filming days does he have, like 5?

its all some other guy in a suit-

Also, is that Velcro strips on the side of the truck?

  • Sparky

I do not like the mask! Also, the rest of the suit is hit and miss. The textures are great but I can’t stand the blue fingers and silver lining on the shoes(but I’m guessing that’s for stunt work.

  • MightyFooda

Wow. That suit is gawdaaaaamn aweful. Really. Why change that? Why? This movie is going to suck hard. Really, almost no shot at being good. Shoulda ponied up the dough for Raimi to make some more movies. And now they are trying to doit under budget too? Geebus Kreist, this is the worst decision since decling to smother Justin Bieber as an infant.

    • Nick

Are you retarded? No chance at being good? How bout the young talent on-board? Andrew Garfield was excellent in the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and the Social Network, Emma Stone turns to gold everything she touches, and they have a great new director in Mark Webb, who made easily what was the most creatively shot rom-com of all time in (500) Days of Summer. Not to mention the seasoned (award winning) veterans Martin Sheen and Sally Fields, and also the always great Dennis Leary. Then you have Rhys Ifan playing the villain, who may be posed to shock and awe in his first real big break, just like Ledger in the TDK. I wanted to root against this film, but its just got too much going for it.

      • SamIsLaughing

Are you the director or producer of this movie? Your ass-kissing sounds really artificial and planted. The suit looks awful. And Martin Sheen at this point is bottom of the barrell low budget far as casting goes. This movie cost less than half of what the previous films cost and it shows in these pictures. Garfield sucks ass. He did a good job at being a whiney little bitch in the Social Network and the extent of his acting skills is pretty much embodied in that deleivery. I predict there will be no sequel to this one time flop festival.

      • MightyFooda

Ha! I’m retarded? None of these people have done anything to show they belong in THIS type of movie. Wow, the guy who directed 500 Days directs some mumble core emo movie and this makes him qualified to direct a Super Hero action movie how? If you look a the other successful Super hero Movies they are directed by people that showed the at least had the aptitude to direct a Superhero movie. They picked the people they did be cause they were CHEAP!! And what bothers me the most is that lame ass swinging around we just saw! Obviously this is being made by people trying to get the emo/twilight tweens, not people who actually give a crap.
And How is everything that Emma Stone touches turns to gold? Are you referring to the House Bunny? You’re an ass-hat emo dink.

    • RYaNrYe92

Jon Favreau and Christopher Nolan have both directed amazing superhero films and they both didn’t have any experience with “This type of movie”.

      • MightyFooda

Wrong! Favreau directed Zathura, a science fiction adventure that showed he had scope for the fantastic and Nolan had shown that he could unravel a complex mystery on film, and as you know, Batman is “the worlds greatest Detective”. Boom, I just crushed your argument.

  • mightyfoodas brother

calm down wait til we see the lil puke in action before we hate him forever

  • Daniel

I have a lot of faith in Andrew Garfield. But I have very little faith in any director who signed off on that costume. I mean, the classic Spider-Man costume from the comics is not exactly subtle or classy, but at least the design elements are well-balanced. With this version, there are a whole lot of random stripes and unnecessary accents that make it look needlessly busy. But I guess that’s the idea. Flames on Optimus.

Also, I don’t know why people are fooling themselves that the silver shoes are only for stuntwork. Like Sony can’t afford to make the treads red? They’re gonna go all-out on a Spider-Man costume, but when they get to the shoes they’re gonna just go “Ahh, put whatever color the stuntmen want, we’ll just do a lot of time-consuming color-correction in post”? Furthermore, what the hell do silver treads have to do with stunt work? Silver = stunt work? I don’t remember the costume in the Raimi movies having silver treads, and they seemed to handle stunts okay.

Blarg. This whole thing puts me in a crummy mood.

This franchise is hungry for greatness! This is the time to rebuild the franchise. They should utilise the villains that weren’t included in the previous films such as Beetle (Abner Jenkins), Carnage, Chameleon, Electro, Enforcers, Hammerhead, Hobgoblin, Hydro-Man, Jackal, Kingpin, Kraven the Hunter, Lizard, Morbius, Mysterio, Rhino, Scorpion, Shocker, Silvermane, Spot, Tinkerer, Tombstone, Vulture.

I hope that in this new Spider-Man film series, they include the following love interests and leave Mary-Jane Watson out of the films for at least a while: Liz Allan, Betty Brant, Gwen Stacy, Debra Whitman, April Maye, Michele Gonzales, Jean DeWolff, Jessica Drew, Lisa Skye, Marcy Kane, Angelica Jones, Felicia Hardy, Sarah Rushman, Carlie Cooper, Norah Winters. This is a second chance to get it right. This is an opportunity.

    • Aaron

they actually do not have mary jane in the cast list, it is only gwen stacey that I have seen so far :) so perhaps this is going to be the good one:) I do hope so, didnt mind the first film but thought that they wernt that well made, I just think that with enhanced technology that this could be a potentially good film, even if its made by disney, seeing as disney bought marvel comics :L

      • Hi

Your an idiot Sony still retains the rights to Spider-man. Disney may have bought Marvel but Marvel sold the movie rights to Spider-man to Sony. The only way Disney retains those rights is if Sony fails to make a movie every few years thats one of the big reasons this movie has been “pushed” through production.

      • J. Jonah Jameson

Aaron, no need to waste your breath with this guy. Whoever it is uses this same spam technique at, listing 20 or so different actors/characters they’d like to see in a certain movie for every single post.

      • FutureFlop

Did you just say “advanced technology”? The dude is swinging around on a real rope and the budget is less than half of the original films. He’s wearing a scuba diving suit with silver slippers. I don’t think they’re going for advanced anything on this one. I can only imagine what the lizard will look like.

  • Ian

Haven’t seen anything with Garfield in it (on the waiting list to get The Social Network from my library), so can’t make an opinion on him. I liked (500) Days Of Summer, so I think Webb should do a good job with the romance aspects of the story, but how he handles action remains to be seen. As for the costume? It’s alright. I like that they seem to be bringing back web shooters, but the silver on the shoes looks weird. So this can go either way.

    • Jason W

Look up Red Riding 1973, to see what got David Fincher interested in Garfield.

  • gcm443

I hope this new spiderman makes his way into an avengers sequel

    • Max

That would be amazing, but sadly spider-man is owned by Sony while the Avengers is in Marvel’s hands. There could probably never be a crossover unless Marvel reacquires the rights to the character.

      • gcm443

Thats a shame. I thought it would be a no brainer

  • Matt O

Going to be awful I hope whomever got rid of Raimi and did this gets fired big time. All Raimi wanted to do was fix the script, so as fans we’re stuck with this?

    • LameReboot

Geezus!!! What the hell is this???? They went from big budget, great cast, awesome costume to, low budget, forgettable cheap cast and turned Spider-man into one of those multi-colored frogs. Is that allagator skin and rubber? What is he wearing?

  • JDub

The eyes will be cgi i bet cause u can see the dots on them so his eyes will react to different situations like in the cartoon

  • AD71177

emma stone, from hot red head to blonde + some crazy stupid looking costume = an EPIC fail.

  • you

This is going to be the best musical ever!

  • henshinagogo

    Whatever, Matt O.

Raimi ruined the Spiderman franchise. What a joke. You dont have a clue how this movie will turn out so save your breath.

lawl @ people who think this movie will fail over silver linings on feet.

  • Spideyfan

refreshing 2 c change Prefer if the eyes were a little bigger though.

Wonder if they will adjust that with cgi.

  • RYaNrYe92

Personally I like this suit, it looks a lot more “home-made” than the previous one, also I can’t wait to see this movie I think its gonna be brilliant. As for people saying its goin to be crap because they are on a budget, you don’t need to put loads of money into a movie to make it good! also people saying that Raimi’s movies are better, HE KILLED OFF VENOM! AND HE WAS ONLY IN IT FOR HALF A MOVIE!! and Harry as the Green Goblin was a disgrace. Who knows what he would have done next, Carnage? maybe he would have also just been a normal guy in a rubber suit!? or maybe Dr. Connors as The Lizard seeing as they kept putting that off for no reason. I just can’t wait to see a good Spider-man movie where he actually has web-slingers (another massive flaw to the previous movies, why would webs come outta his wrists? it would more likely come out of his arse!) and where his mask doesnt rip every fight for more face time!

  • Migz13

I won’t say anything with or against this suit until I see the final material.
It’s like judging a car about the way it performs and looks when it’s still just a chassis with no engine:P

    • Blaze

Wait, I cannot fathom it being so srtaigthofrwrad.

  • Gregory Rizzi

It’s looks like that costume was made by my balls.

Personally I am NOT looking forward to this movie (the fact that after three very successful movies financially Sony should ‘ve let Raimi continue and rebooting the series a this point is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!).

I can honsetly say that when I saw Andrew Garfield I could see him as a potential Peter Parker but I have to say that the costume is HORRIBLE, kinda looks like Sony are doing a ‘Warner bros in the mid 90s’ by making the film ‘manufactured’ to boost toy sales.

RYaNrYe92 had mentioned that the new suit looks more ‘homemade’, which is a fair point (personally nothing will ever come close the black Spidey suit in no.3 for pure skillz!!) and even with a much smaller budget I’d rather they stick to the classic design, and judging by the boots they were probably sponsors by adidas

  • King

Aint no way in hell this movie is going to b good. . They got rid of a damn good spider-man for a weak peace of shit. . The guy looks like chop sticks. . And the outfit. .TERRIBLe. . Looks like thow up to me. . They cheap asses shoulda done betta than this. .
