Well here’s some exciting news. Magnet Releasing is putting together a horror anthology film called XX that will feature an all-female roster of directors, and Annie Clark—better known as the musician St. Vincent—will be making her directorial debut as part of the team. If the prospect of seeing a horror film directed by St. Vincent wasn’t enough, the rest of the roster is mighty promising, as the other three segments will be directed by Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, Girlfight), Jennifer Lynch (Chained), and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird).

Each segment in the horror anthology will star female leads, making this an entirely female-driven venture. Clark will not only direct her segment but also co-write alongside horror staple Roxanne Benjamin, whose credits include Southbound and the V/H/S films. Benjamin will produce.

Clark’s music is pretty wild and inventive, and she’s conjured a terrific stage persona with St. Vincent, so it’ll be interesting to see how her creative talents translate to the feature film world. Kusama’s involvement here is promising as well, as the Jennifer’s Body filmmaker is just coming off her horror indie hit The Invitation, which garnered positive reviews at Sundance in January.

It’s unclear when XX will be released, but a swell poster has already been unveiled. Check it out below.
