First Very Short Clip from STAR TREK INTO THE DARKNESS Features Zachary Quinto as Spock in a Volcano

The first clip for director J.J. Abrams’ sequel Star Trek Into Darkness has been released.    It features star Zachary Quinto in costume as Spock, donning a protective suit as he is seen in the heart of a volcano. Fair warning: the clip is a literal blink of an eye since it’s three frames long.  Abrams and Conan O’Brien had a big laugh at the expense of all of us nerds (and tired bloggers) out there, but we’ll take what we can get.

Hit the jump to watch the clip.  The film stars Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch.  Star Trek Into Darkness opens in 3D and IMAX on May 17th, 2013.
