Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new clip for Star Trek Beyond. Directed by Justin Lin, the film picks up in the midst of the Enterprise’s five-year mission and finds the crew scattered to the winds after encountering a new and terrifying threat. The director’s chair wasn’t the only thing to get a revamp for Beyond, as Simon Pegg and Doug Jung also took over scripting duties from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who spearheaded the screenwriting of the first two Trek films.

This new clip is more character centric as it shows a tender moment between Zachary Quinto’s Spock and Zoe Saldana’s Uhura, after which Karl Urban’s Bones strides in and proceeds to school Spock on the intricacies of the relationship world. As Bones does.

Check out the clip below. The film also stars Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Anton Yelchin, and John Cho and opens in theaters on July 22nd.
