Kirk and Scotty Are in Trouble in New STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Clip

Paramount Pictures has released yet another new clip from Star Trek Into Darkness.  All of the previous clips have focused on the Enterprise crew in some sort of peril, and this clip is no different as we see Chris Pine’s Kirk and Simon Pegg’s Scotty running into a bit of trouble aboard the Enterprise.  As yesterday’s new poster hinted, Into Darkness will find the film’s characters facing down quite a lot of dangerous and deadly situations, but I’m looking forward to seeing how J.J. Abrams infuses humor into the story as well.

Hit the jump to watch the new clip.  The film stars  Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Alice Eve, and Benedict CumberbatchStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th and in 2D and 3D in traditional theaters on May 17th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness:

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth.  In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Did I… Did I just see… Noooo… Is that? Seatbelts? On the bridge chairs? Not once has there been restraint devices on a SHIP WITH ARTIFICIAL GRAVITY AND INERTIAL DAMPERS IN FRIGGIN’ SPACE until now. Bravo. You have truly floored me, JJ.

Keep crying, your mom is on her way. Lol.
They spent so much time building that amazing set, and now you have to look at the background and flame all the little things you dont like instead of enjoying an awesome movie. FUCK THE SEATBELTS DUDE ???

@Jones: No, I am pretty excited about this, too, and my sarcasm didn’t come through, I guess. It just struck me as funny, as I never realized before that they never had restraints up to this point, on a ship that gets assaulted regularly piloted by a man with a devil-may-care attitude. Only makes sense to have them when you have systems like art-grav and int-dampers, that could break down while taking damage.

      • Jones

I owe you an apology, i guess. Didnt get the sarcasm. :)
Haha but you are right, then they maybe should have them. Seatbelts are important, even in space! There should be a spacepolice giving tickets to people flying without em..

It could be that when the ship is falling a part all the technologies do as well. These no artificial gravity and the need for seatbelts.

Where’s Chekov in that bridge shot?

Um, hey, excuse me… *ahem* and my impertinence, but if the Enterprise is supposed to have such good inertial dampeners, then why does every little hit rock it like a SOB in the original series? Oh, yeah, for drama. Because the audience loves it when crewmembers are suddenly thrown to the floor. It makes them feel the damage done to the ship even more. And if the Enterprise is *literally* ripping apart, I highly doubt there being any chance of artificial gravity or inertial dampening even working. Especially since we *all* know how fragile even the engines and the dilithium crystals were in the original series ;)

      …geez guys……

  • Grayden

Y’know, they’re called Inertial Dampeners, not Inertial Nullifiers. Big space shit will still throw the ship around at times.

Also, Scotty needs to work out if he can’t hold on to one bloody catwalk rail.
