Uhura Means Business in New Character Poster for STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS

A new trailer for director J.J. Abrams’ sequel Star Trek Into Darkness is poised to be released this coming Tuesday, and it appears that Paramount will be releasing a few new posters in the lead up to the new trailer debut.  Yesterday we got a look at a new one-sheet that featured the U.S.S. Enterprise in a rather precarious position, and today the studio has unveiled a character poster for Zoe Saldana’s Uhura.  This is likely the first of many character posters for the film, so keep your eye here on the site in the coming days for the rest of them.

Hit the jump to take a look at the new poster, and check back here on Collider on Tuesday, April 16th to watch the new trailer.  The film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, and Peter WellerStar Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D on May 15th and in 3D and 2D on May 17th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Star Trek Into Darkness:

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth.  In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
