Personally, I’m going to pass on the screening since season one is pretty weak, and the series hadn’t figured out what it wanted to be, so it basically copied better episodes of the original Star Trek.  However, I wouldn’t mind if these showings became a regular thing.  I would totally buy tickets for a screening of “The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1 and 2″.

I know it’s to celebrate the season 1 release, but why would they show any season 1 episodes in the theater? The best season 1 episodes are “average”. Now it it was Best of Both World 1 and 2, THAT I would go see.

Best of Both Worlds 1 and 2, or Yesterday’s Enterprise would be cool to see in a theater.

    • Northern Star

That’s exactly what I was thinking too, ‘Best of Both Worlds’ would have been the perfect presentation for the new HD releases… and especially on the big screen!

  • Shaun

That’s hilarious, because both hornacek and Jeff said pretty much EXACTLY what I was going to say…

If you aren’t going to show Best of Both Worlds (and throwing in Yesterday’s Enterprise for extra value) there’s no reason for me to spend money to see a couple of average (at best) TNG episodes I’ve seen enough times, thank you, then there’s no reason for this.

Turnout will be low… Hell, I wouldn’t go see those two episodes if it were FREE. Even Encounter at Farpoint would’ve been a better a choice, or Conspiracy (with that exploding head!).

Sure, it’s just season 1 being released, but they should’ve worked on BoBW and YE first, just for a spectacular kickoff event, that might’ve gotten more people interested in plunking down for season one on blu-ray. As it is, if I end up buying any of these, I’ll start with season three.

Maybe someday they’ll release DS9 on blu-ray, and for that I’d be VERY excited. It probably won’t happen, but a guy can dream! I’d love to see, for example, The Way of the Warrior on the big screen too!

Agree…S1 wasn’t nearly as good or interesting as the later seasons…in particular, those episodes already mentioned would have been the way to go.

I will say though, that S2′s Measure of a Man is a fantastic episode…it was one the of the best episodes written in the series.

Farsight is currently running a kickstarter trying to raise fund to reproduce the Star Trek: The Next Generation Pinball table as well. Looks like this is the year for ST:TNG stuff.
