Awesome Deal on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Motion Picture Collection on DVD or Blu-ray

     July 30, 2013

If you’re a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation and don’t yet own First Contact, Generations, Insurrection and Nemesis on DVD or Blu-ray, get ready to spend twenty dollars.   That’s because Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day are the box sets for $17.99 on DVD (55% off) and $19.99 on Blu-ray (66% off).  It’s a great deal and something I just bought myself.  Here are the links to purchase:

The last official star trek movies. The ‘Star Trek – The Next Generation’ films are vastly underrated. ‘Star Trek – Generations’ I saw in the theaters 5 times. ‘Star Trek – First Contact’ I saw 10 times in the theater. ‘Star Trek – Insurrection’ I saw 12 times in the theater and ‘Star Trek – Nemesis’ I saw 15 times in the theater. The other Star Trek film I saw in the theaters was ‘Star Trek VI – The Undiscovered Country’, I saw that 3 times in the theater. The ‘Star Trek – The Next Generation’ crew should have had at least 1 or 2 more films. JJ abrhams can go to hell for ruining star trek with his pathetic and abysmal and dreck remakes and for about to ruin star wars with more remakes.

Agreed about Abrams, but not the rest. The TNG films were a mere shadow of that show in its best years. Also a mere shadow of what DS9 was doing for most of its wonderful run.

As good a deal as that is, the only TNG movie worth seeing more than once is First Contact. The other three run the gamut from “Meh” to “horrible.”

Generations is fun whenever Shatner’s onscreen. The rest of the time, it’s glum and even depressing. Insurrection was just an episode of the show stretched out to feature length, and the story wasn’t nearly good enough to support that extra running time. Nemesis was just embarrassing all the way around.

I already have FC on blu-ray, so I’m set. Eventually, I’d like to get TNG seasons 3-7 on blu-ray, and I hope DS9 will get the blu-ray treatment too. I also wish the studio wouldn’t charge so damned much for the Trek TV blu-rays. Most shows are not as overpriced as the Treks are.
