Happy May the 4th, Everyone! With Star Wars: The Force Awakens recently being released on Blu-ray and shooting on the yet unnamed Episode VIII well underway, it's a particularly thankful Star Wars day, and the team behind the charity foundation Force for Change is giving out a major thank you to donators. A video recently surfaced on the Star Wars YouTube channel featuring Daisy Ridley and a few familiar creatures offering thanks to the thousands of people who have given money to the charity.

You must excuse me that I'm not on a first-name basis with the trio of characters that are featured in the video, though one of them is either Admiral Ackbar or of the same race of creatures as Ackbar. Oh, and yes, that's BB-8 who rolls in for a quick hello. Finally, Ridley's co-star John Boyega makes a brief cameo...of sorts, as the most furry of the creatures delivers Ridley a figurine of Boyega's character, Finn, as a thanks of his own to his friend and colleague.

Ridley also says that she's recording the video from Episode VIII. As we recently reported, Rian Johnson has been sending a few dispatches from the set of Episode VIII and though there's plenty of familiar faces and designs gleaned, it seems clear that the next chapter in the series will be a very different film than The Force Awakens. There are several different reasons for this, but chief amongst them is Johnson himself, a talented director who has made three great genre-transcending works. For no other reason than having Johnson at the helm of the new film, I'm thankful but as anyone who is familiar with the Force for Change organization will know, there are hundreds, even thousands of people who are far more thankful for the donations and work that Star Wars fans have been doing with the group.
