Bad Robot Responds to Zack Snyder with Their Own Batman/STAR WARS Mashup

     August 8, 2014

We may be in for an odd back-and-forth between two of the biggest upcoming blockbusters.  A couple weeks ago, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder tweeted a photoshopped picture of Henry Cavill wearing a robe and wielding a lightsaber with the hashtag “SuperJedi”.  About a week later, Snyder followed it up with Batman hanging out with R2-D2, and gave it the hashtag “BATMAN & R2BIN”, and directed it at Bad Robot’s Twitter account.

Now Bad Robot has responded with their own mashup by having C-3P0 as “THE C3PED CRUSADER”.  If this series between Snyder and J.J. Abrams‘ production company continues, it could be a fun little way to pass the time as fans anxiously await their blockbuster pictures.  Hit the jump to check out the Star Wars Batman mashup.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016.  Star Wars: Episode VII opens December 18, 2015.

    Freak in love this!

    • dude

      Seriously? “Freak in love this”…?

  • Leo Spaceman

Next they should have the Death Star drifting through the remains of Krypton.

    • MCP

      That would be fantastic!!

Neither gang has the luxury of taking time out to do childish stuff like this. Guardians of The Galaxy just set the bar so high for both of them- comic book movie and sci-fi space opera alike, that they should be panicking and doubling down. Get to work, dorks! James Gunn just future-boned you both from 2014.

      Useless post.

Thank you for your nice post. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

        Pot. Kettle. Black.

If you think the actual filmmakers have to “take time out” to do things like this you really don’t understand how filmmaking works. Yeah, if any of these movies don’t turn out well *that’s* the reason why.

      • Bowb

Yes. That is clearly what I thought. I thought JJ Abrams and Zack Snyder cancelled shooting for a week to make silly photoshop pictures. I now regret laboring for years under the misconcieved belief that this is how filmaking works.
Thank you, Sir. Thank you for correcting me. You are truly wise. I now look forward to a future unburdened by rank ignorance into the filmmaking process thanks to your insight.

        You’re welcome.

      • MIXTER

Exactly! These pics would take me 20 mins to knock up in photoshop! 10 if i had access to the real/or cgi c3po! The way these trolls bitch, you would think the crew wern’t allowed time for toilet breaks.

Guardians was good fun, but man, what a hype train! It was great but not mindblowin like people make out. It was the characters quips that made it shine, the vfx were pretty, but I hope they don’t make Star Wars look like that! GOTG had a very prequel-esque look, like a fancy video game, or like Avatar. I’m not hating on it, i’m just sayng, its vfx were pretty but standard Marvel stuff. Star Wars should look real world, like the OT, ships that you can actually climb into and fly. I enjoyed the film, but the characters stole the show. Though not sure how much Vin Diesel got payed for saying 3 words.

      • R0yBatty

Totally agree with you, VFX make the picture, not those pesky actors/directors/writers coming up with great moments that stick with you days after you have seen the movie. I wish we could have a new Transformers every week, that would be awesome.

If it is C3P0 that responds to the rebel alliance signal…”we’re doomed”

  • Guest

Actually a little surprised that the Star Wars people take time to do this kind of cross-promoting (even if it is just for fun) for the DC universe since it’s Star Wars and Marvel that both belong to Disney (meaning DC is their competition).
I wouldn’t be surprised if we will see some Star Wars/Marvel jokes instead of Star Wars/DC jokes later down the line.

It’s nice to see studios having fun with each other rather than being bitter rivals

    • MIXTER

Great point! The way these Marvel vs DC fanboys go at eachother is stupidity at its most bizzare! I grew up loving Batman, Superman, Hulk, Spiderman, Wonder-woman and captain America. I never payed any notice to what comic publisher made them! Both have great characters, Both have terrible characters. Same goes for both their storylines, artwork. Both have had great movies based on their characters and rotten ones too. Both have guilty mistakes! From Ang Lees Hulk, to Batman & Robin, Superman 4 to Fantastic-4.

What people should be doing rather than trying to seperate them and picking sides, is lobbying to get both marvel and dc to do crossover movies! Batman & Spiderman in one film, rivalry between the two is ridiculous, this is comics and movies not football.

      • appolox

I don’t know about that. But yeah it’s nice to see them getting along.

  • Josh King

    that is awesome
