Has George Lucas Added Darth Vader’s “NOOOOOO!!!!” to RETURN OF THE JEDI? Of Course He Has

Star Wars is finally coming to Blu-ray with the Star Wars: The Complete Saga boxed set, which means that there are more awesome digital alterations and changes that wholeheartedly improve every movie! (They don’t). We previously told you that George Lucas has replaced the puppet Yoda in The Phantom Menace with the CGI one seen in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and now comes word that The Almighty Tinkerer has made two horrible, audio alterations to the films. Hit the jump to find out what they are and to watch them for yourself.

Apparently Lucas has added Darth Vader’s laughable “NOOOOOOO!!” from Revenge of the Sith to Return of the Jedi. I know, it sounds too ridiculous to believe, but Badass Digest has apparently received confirmation that this is true, proving that Lucas is indeed insane.

Another change that’s a bit less likely and still unconfirmed is an alteration to Obi-Wan’s Krayt Dragon Call from A New Hope. This one’s still a rumor for now, so take it with a grain of salt.

Here are the clips (Thanks to Collider reader Carl):

NOTE: These aren’t from the actual Blu-rays, but have the leaked audio clips synced up with the existing videos

    Nooooooooooooo!

    • louie

I can’t defend this guy anymore. Wtf is he thinking

  • Apprentice12

These changes are now starting to cross the line.

    • Bill

“Starting to” cross the line? Eh? They left the line in the fucking distance around the time Han stepped on bad-videogame Jabba’s tail.

God I’m a nerd. I typed that with absolute sincerity.

  • Sam

The Obi-Wan one is so obviously fake.

    • Warpcrafter

The Krayt Dragon one sounds like the horny witch from the original Conan the Barbarian. Pathetic.

  • Al

Go to the Vader Youtube page and it said

“NOTE: The video is not from the blu-ray, I just synced up the leaked audio clip with existing video.”

    • mephisto1138

Exactly. Everybody is freaking out for nothing. I love that people still reference the “bad” cg Jabba in ANH when that was fixed on the 2004 DVD releases when it was replaced with the Phantom Menace CG model that was much more full and impressive. The 2004 DVDs fixed a lot of the “fixes” from 97, now the Greedo scene looks like Greedo fired because he was shot. The same people complain that they want the original theatrical versions when in fact the VHS versions they grew up with were altered even from the theatrical versions. Everybody’s an expert… at not knowing things.

And this site just gets less and less credible with every stupid reactionary freak out it has. Just like the OMG Dark Knight Rises is shooting part of Gotham in Philly, its going to stand out SOOO much, what is Nolan thinking article a few months back. It really makes you wonder how much the writers on this site actually understand the industry.

Stop it Mesphisto or I’ll tell ya that I am your father.

  • Carson Dyle

Lucas just saved me a lot of money.

  • fake

Fake. You guys will run anything.

  • Reggie

This is such bullshit you guys who posted this fell for the banana in the tailpipe.

  • Shmojo

    Is it April 1st?

  • Ringbearer1420

Between Attack of the Clones and new hope their are lots of deleted scenes i’d love to see added… but that would give the fans two much of what they wouldn’t it?

    • Oliver

I agree – The Deleted Padme/Anakin scenes from Attack of The Clones are just about the only scenes between those characters that don’t suck! They’re quite sweet and normal (rather than heavy handed and ridiculous). Also, the missing execution of Shaak Ti from Sith really took the bite out of General Grievous….

Adding those would do some considerable good. Only problem being that with Clones, something else would have to be cut to accommodate Padme/Anakin stuff in a film that’s already too long. It’s not often you see things removed from, rather than added to a special edition. (voice over in Blade Runner comes to mind of course)

  • Kenny B

i love stupid news like this. Its just another link for us to waste away on. Man up phonies

  • PatLang

I doubt that these will actually be used.

  • FILMfan

    Shenannigans…….has to be fake.

  • Mr Lahey

Slow news day Collider? If you need to post fake you-tube fan experiments then go ahead! Theres about another 100 000 000 000 000 of them to repost.

However i’m so glad that this IS fake news as the very idea of that made me puke! In reality however, I’m hoping the Vader Nnnn will actually be removed from Sith, or dubbed. Maybe if they Re-dubb Jar Jar with the voice of Black Dynamite people will actually like him. Theres a project for someone!

  • Bill Graham

We say it’s all rumor, then post the videos. Yet we get crushed for posting them at all? Get over it. And if y’all really think Lucas would never do this, just look at the stuff he has already added which is completely unnecessary…

  • Carson Dyle

Badass Digest has confirmed that it’s true, for what it’s worth.

The Chinese discs have apparently been leaked. The video is fake, but the audio is supposedly real.

If it’s a leg-pull, it’s an incredibly cruel and elaborate one.

  • DJFury

The ‘Noooooo’ sounds better here than it did in Ep. 3. 50/50 chance this is fake.

  • Doug

That “no” actually isn’t that bad, IMO. I’m so used to GL messing around, that this little change isn’t too horrible.

  • Kondorr

This actually does not sound that bad…

  • sdgsdg

hello, welcome to http://www.abcneed. com,i hope everyone will more like them because of there have more nice top goods and cheaper price in there, thanks

  • darth noodles

    I like the NOOOOOO…. I hope it’s real

  • darth noodles

…..and the Krayt call. I’m 43, I saw the the first Star Wars in the theartre and today was the day I found out that Obi-wan’s noise is a Krayt Dragon!?! I never understood what that was sopposed to be, It sounded bad 35 years ago it sounds bad today. let’s relax these are Lucas’ movies and he can do whatever he wants with them. He’s not ruining anything!

    • Tarek

      “He’s not ruining anything!”

Of course not! because he’s already trashed the place.

  • Mike

This has to be a joke.

  • Robb

    Hey, it could be worse.

He could have added a “Yippee!”

    • Tarek

      Or a meessa gonna die!

      • Hiro the Eighth Samurai (and 14th Assassin)

Or he could say: Meesa all glowy and sparkly!

Oh wait, that’s from Robot Chicken. Small difference, it’s still audio. Just dub it in.

  • J.R.

    This is Bullshit!!!!!!…………

  • Chris

Let’s at least stop calling it the Revenge of the Sith “Noooooooo,” which was loud, long and ridiculous. I can’t say I’m happy about the change, but it is infinitely better than that possibility.

  • Reggie

Go over to nytimes.com search Star Wars and there’s an article confirming this news straight from Lucasfilm themselves. So I’ll man up apologize to all people who I clowned for believing this story. They are not idiots it would seem we have just one idiot in this village and his name is George Lucas. No more defending this Asshole from me. This is just stupid and sad. If he is this unhappy with the original why not just remake them instead of altering them like this. It really does show a lack of respect to the fans and a lack of respect to his fellow filmmakers who helped him bring his vision to life.

  • dylan

i dont believe them till i see em on blu, the obi wan call sounds so ridick, if lucas actually did that i will kill him, now the vader is a lil more believable, but again, i wont believe it till i see it, i no people may hate me for this, but if any change i wanna see is the replacement of sebastian shaw with hayden at the unmasking in ROTJ, while i agree haydens acting isnt great, i think it would still be better if he was the anakin unmasked for continuity purposes, also, i kinda would like the line, “now i am complete” added into that dialouge at the unmasking, because it calls back to Shimi’s words at her death in anakins arms, idk, i always kinda thought that would be a lil emotional

    • Reggie

Sadly it’s been confirmed by Lucasfilm reps on nytimes.com

    • Reggie

As a side note I always thought that the end of ROTS would’ve been better if after learning that Padme was dead. Anakin/Vader would have turn his anger towards Palpatine. In doing so Palpatine would then lay the smack down and then prove to Vader that he is not what he used to be. Then realizing that his efforts are futile he then bows down to Palpatine and utters the line “What is thy bidding my master”with obvious disdain and exasperation in his voice. A defeated man indeed.

      • Hiro the Eighth Samurai (and 14th Assassin)

I agree. That’s a great way to show the true nature of their “partnership.”

Have him seem even more despondent than he did after basically sending Mace Windu to his death.

And it would fit directly in with the original trilogy, as he also chokes (and sometimes kills) anyone who dares to defy him, and also punishes or kills anyone who dares to make a mistake.

  • Mil

It’s obviously real. No one but Lucas could come up such terrible ideas.

  • Reggie

I’ve been a lifelong fan of SW for over 34yrs. I’M 40yrs. I can proudly say that I will remain a fan til the day I die. Having said that there’s been a lot of things I’ve been pouring over for years now about the prequels and this is’nt the gospel according to Reggie. It’s just just one humble person’s opinion on why the prequels ultimately failed. I think most of us agree that ESB is by far the Holy Grail of the OT and to a greater degree the whole saga. The reason to me is simple one word, heart. ESB is IMO a perfect movie. That’s not to say that it’s the best movie ever it’s just downright the best SW movie ever. In this movie every central character’s motivation is clearly mapped out and realized. Luke is eager to prove himself and show his mentors Obi-Wan and Yoda that he is capable of saving his friends and the galaxy from the Empire. His ambition is admirable if not misguided and he pays a price for his arrogance and recklessness. Han is motivated by his love for Leia and his willingness to protect her and his new friend Luke compels him to become noble and selfless. Yoda and Obi-Wan are motivated by their desire to redeem the Jedi Order by once and for all eradicating the Sith. Vader is obsessed with finding a ally to help him in his efforts to finally overthrow his master Emperor Palpatine and quench his thirst for ultimate power. But a funny thing happens along the way. Vader is inspired by the fact that this new ally is none other then his long lost son who he quite possibly never thought much about for years. Since Luke represents what’s left of his former life Vader is forced to confront the one person he can never get rid of….himself Anakin Skywalker. This all leads to some poignant moments that really drive the themes of the entire saga. Sense of self duty, honor, code, loyalty, friendship, and most importantly family and faith. The prequels were all about politics and nothing more. I never felt a real friendship between Anakin and Obi nor did I believe in the rushed love story between Anakin and Padme. It all felt formulaic and forced. So many opportunities were missed to make something great here and George dropped the ball. The saga deserved better then this. There was fertile ground in the PT for some real drama and angst and passion.Instead all we really got was fluff. Star Wars used to be so much more the spectacle.

Having worked on the EP. IV Special Edition, I’d like to say that sometimes change is a good thing. It lets us view the Star Wars Universe from a different perspective. It is like watching it for the first time all over again. My only hope is that those of us who worked on the Special Edition that did not receive credit, get that recognition that is so rightfully deserved. We worked our tails off and spent long hours on something we all loved…Star Wars. To leave us out is disappointing to say the least.

    • Old Pirate

Well, having just seen PARTS of ROTJ, I CAN confirm, that both the Nooooooo’s are indeed present!!!!! :-(

Also, Vaders saber is still PINK, even more so if you ask me! And a lot of the black matte lines are still present and have not been cleaned up. The film looks a bit grainy too in places. When the super stardestroyer crashes into the deathstar surface, a black box appears around it.

Other parts that i saw that aren;t bad, are Ewoks blink. Jabbas doorway seems to pan across now.

And Sebulba is one of Jabba’s gang, he strangely walks down the steps in the palace, but everyones asleep. So I assume he just got back from a night time piss.

Not sure if the Sandstorm scene, or Luke building his Saber are added to the film, i was hoping they were.

Have yet to see the film in its entirety, but so far I am NOT impressed. At $80+ dollars, I expected better. Though, have yet to see what the other films are like. My only hope is that the prequels are improved upon, though I doubt it. Dubbing Jar Jar would have been a good start. I think my old DVD set just went up in value!

    • Tarek

What did you expect from the Emperor Luca$ ? He’s joined the dark side of the force a long time ago, far far in the galaxy
