A new trailer for Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) has gone online. The nine-disc collection includes the prequel trilogy and the special editions of the original trilogy so what’s the point. If you think HD versions of crappy movies and diminished great movies is worth it, then click here. It has been a long time ago. far far away in my memory since I decided to boycott anything coming from Luca$. I really don’t know how he became so famous. He’s got a lucky hand with Star Wars Episode IV ( the non botched one), and since, everything he’s directed was a total mess. He is a bad director (Mark Hamill confirmed it) a bad screenwriter ( the prequel is there to testify) and a bad guy, since he doesn’t even respect the fans of starwars with his numerous and disastrous fiddling.

As for how he became famous, ever heard of THX 1138 dumbass? A truly great film created and directed by Lucas. Ever heard of American Graffiti dumbass? A truly great film created and directed by Lucas, and a film which was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar and a Best Director Oscar for Lucas. Ever heard of Star Wars dumbass? A great trilogy created by Lucas, and the first film received a Best Picture Oscar nomination, and a Best Director nom for Lucas. Ever heard of Indiana Jones? Lucas created it and wrote the story. Without him, Indiana Jones would never exist. He chose Spielberg to direct it and he owns it. That’s how Lucas became famous and rich, and deservedly so.
As for Mark Hamill, he hasn’t confirmed a damn thing except for his admiration and respect for George Lucas.
So my suggestion to you is to grow up and shut up. As for you boycotting anything coming from Lucas? Bullshit! If you had any convictions about boycotting Lucas and everything he does, you wouldn’t have even bothered to make that pathetic post. Agreed with Joe. Lucas gave sci fi geeks more than probably any other director ever has, so stop complaining. The prequel trilogies were not very good. But mass media has shoved it down everyones throat they they were an abomination. They had a lot of good things going for it and I for one thought they were enjoyable. I love the Star Wars universe and I can’t get enough of it. What most call exploitation of the franchise, I call giving bitchy moaning fans what they really want deep down in side. I’d bet money Tarek watches all the clone wars cartoons and has seen the prequel movies several times each…

And while I watched Episode I and 2 a couple of time, For the sake of John Williams music, I couldn’t suffer watching Episode 3. I too completely agree with Joe. This Lucas bashing is old and tired. I’ve never seen in my life a set of movies all spear-headed by the same man cause such an uproar. I saw the original Star Wars in 1977 at the age of 6 and ever since that moment I’ve been hooked. I personally believe that the best film in the franchise by far is the one Lucas had the least to do with and that’s Empire one of a few films that I believe is genuinely perfect. Even the original “A New Hope” does’nt hold up very well under close scrutiny. Ever since 1999 it has been really trendy to shit on Lucas and the prequels to the point now where it just seems like piling on. But here’s the pecuilar thing for a bunch of people who swear up and down they don’t like the prequels at all they continue to make hordes of money and set every talkback session on fire. I mean Catwoman was a shitty movie and no one brings it up at all and only a handful of people saw it. Point being Star Wars is more than a film franchise it’s a slice of Americana you almost have to see the movies or be left out of the loop so many pop culture references. No one will ever accuse GL of being a great filmmaker or even the greatest guy ever but you have to respect his brilliant planning and marketing that has made him billions over the past 3 1/2 decades. I eagerly await the blu ray release and admit to it unashamed how about being honest with yourself and the rest of us and admit the same.

Luca$ doesn’t owe fans anything, it’s his saga, he can do what he want with it, HOWEVER, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Luca$ has stretched that relationship with the ‘Star Wars’ fans past breaking point with his shameless commercial milking of the series, I mean really, a theatrical re-release, three DVD box set(s), a Blu Ray box set(s), AND a theatrical 3-D re-re-release, all in the span of 15 years, and you’re telling me that’s NOT milking it???
And yes, I know I left out the prequels above, I’ll deal with them right now as a separate issue. The prequels were good visual effects movies with inspired parts, but as a whole, they were very mediocre films with bad scripts, appalling dialogue (Ep III less so, thanks to Tom Stoppard), and wooden acting, but I still find them reasonably entertaining- but they could’ve been so much more, a rich, exciting, textured, nuanced, genuinely emotional, and visually breathtaking new trilogy, instead of an okay, visually impressive (way too much CGI, and not all of it top-notch either), nostalgia-inducing money-machine that they were both intended to be and ended up as such!
As far as the ‘Special Edition’ versions of the original trilogy go, I supported them in 1997, understand why Luca$ did them, but he should have finished them back in the 1990′s and let them go there, and if people want nice digitally-restored versions of the theatrical versions of that trilogy, and there’s a considerable demand for them, Luca$ is being contemptuous of the people that made him rich by denying them those versions… AND THAT’S WHY I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ‘STAR WARS’ PRODUCT AGAIN (it really is that simple)!!!
That has to be the worst box art I’ve ever seen, especially for something this “important.” They put the dumb kid on the front, and Luke isn’t even facing in the right direction. Good thing I have digital copies of the original originals and can avoid this. My enthusiasm for Star Wars disappeared once I realized quality turned into business strategies.

I have one question I would like to pose before the blu-ray is released.
In every version of “Return of the Jedi” I’ve seen, there have been two black rectangles imposed at the sides of the emperor’s eyes in the final throneroom sequence. They seem to be there to cover up something, maybe a flaw in the make up, I don’t know -I’m sure a Star Wars fan can enlighten me.
Honestly I was *shocked* that these were not removed in the special edition copy I got, or even in the last dvd set that I bought. Considering the amazing amount of work done to generate backgrounds for the prequels alone, correcting such an eyesore would require a trivial effort at best.
My question is this: will they appear in the final (or is it?) edition of the saga?
I’m going to tell you all straight, right now, that if they remain in the blu-ray, you have all been had, no ifs ands or buts about it. Yes, just because of that little reason. If you shell out more of your money for these movies and that distracting crap is still there, you’re a sucker.

@ Clear Picture, I also wondered why those black glows appeared by Emperors head. As a kid and ever since I used to think it was some darkside power eminating from under his hood, something we could only ever get a glimpse of. I kinda like it because of that, but thats based on what I always thought it was. So I don’t mind if they keep it in, or if they remove it.

That bluray trailer is brilliant. Strange how that small amount of footage shown blows anything away that ive seen in the last 10 years.
Been a while since i’ve seen star wars but if that footage was for a set of films that hadnt been seen before I would have still been blown away. Can’t believe those films are so old.
I’m even warming to Phantom menace, though i do wish they de-jar jar it for bluray. The prequels still have an epic charm to them that i like, but for the bluray i wish they make a lot of changes. Still, that pod-race in 3D will look stunning.
