Remember last month when some genuine concept art from Star Wars: Episode VII started popping up, revealing the new Stormtroopers and the costume designs for Han Solo?  Well the same source is at it again, as they’ve now revealed a Chrome Trooper image by way of even more concept art.  Thankfully this isn’t incredibly spoilerly, but it’s neat to see how director J.J. Abrams is making the franchise his own by tweaking some very familiar designs.  The Millennium Falcon remains unchanged, wisely, but this new concept art shows a chrome-plated version of Stormtrooper that should pair nicely with the traditional white.  What makes the Chrome Trooper so special?  We’ll have to wait until December 18, 2015 to find out.

Hit the jump to take a look at the Star Wars: Episode 7 Chrome Trooper images.  The film stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Harrison Ford, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie, Miltos Yerolemou, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Max von Sydow.

The concept art images were revealed by Indie Revolver, who speculate that the Chrome Trooper may or may not serve as a sort of private security force for Driver’s villainous character.  Details are in short supply, but the site does point out that the Chrome Trooper’s aren’t wearing hoods or cloaks; their metal collar actually extends up from the torso and curves around the head.

This is concept art so the practical designs may differ slightly, but it’s certainly a striking new look for the Stormtrooper.  What do you think of the new designs?  Sound off in the comments below the images.
