Though Disney's D23 Expo is in the past, some news bits are still being released. Case in point, a new video interview featuring director J.J. Abrams and the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Don't expect too much in the way of new footage or insight into their characters, but if it's more from the actors behind the characters that you'd like to see, then definitely check it out.

Abrams and cast members Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Lupita Nyong'o tease fans about what they can expect in the upcoming seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on December 18th and also stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow.

Watch the new video interview with Abrams and the cast below (via Variety):

I love how Ridley appears to glance off-camera for a second, as if Abrams had a blaster pistol at the ready in case she revealed too much about her character or plot. Abrams is really trying to hammer home the film's solid storytelling and commitment to the fanbase. Boyega teases a bit about how his character Finn and Ridley's Rey happen to come together, how they evolve over the course of the film, and why their meeting is critical to the fate of the known universe. We'll find out how that all ties together this December, but if nothing else, this video is a nice peek into D23 if you weren't able to attend.
