There are many upsetting things in this world, and apparently the construction of a fictional weapon from a non-existent universe is one worth caring about.  Because everything in the world is flawed and the Internet exists to point out those flaws, some people took issue with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer when a Sith breaks out a lightsaber, and the lightsabers has mini-lightsabers for the hilt.  Their argument is that this doesn't protect the hands, because as we all know, lightsabers were already great at protecting hands.

Leave it to Stephen Colbert to explain why these nerds are wrong about the new lightsaber.  An "original Star Wars fan" (he won tickets to an early screening of the first movie), Colbert makes a compelling case why the lightsaber hilt works just fine, and I can't help but wonder if he put more thought into it than the filmmakers.  Either way, the Force is strong with this clip, which you can check out after the jump.
