Rumor: STAR WARS EPISODE 7 Villains Revealed, Will Some Old Faces Pop Up?

star-wars-episode-7-villains

It is not a good day for the Mystery Box.  On the heels of this morning’s potential reveal of the new Stormtrooper helmets a bit (bordering on a lot) more information about Star Wars: Episode VII has come tumbling out of the gates.  And I fear for J.J. Abrams’ sanity moving forward with the production (and my own moving forward with the day), because it feels like there is at least one more Star Wars story hitting after this one.

I’m warning you though, the stuff you’re about to read about the film’s villains potentially qualifies as a huge spoiler.  If you don’t want to know what the central conflict of the film is, it’s best to stop reading now.  If you want to go ahead, hit the jump for spoilers on the Star Wars Episode 7 villains.  The film hits theaters on December 18, 2015.

star-wars-rebels-inquisitorsOk let’s start with the villains.  Latino Review says that they are the Inquisitors (as seen in Star Wars: Rebels) and that they have been tied into the Sith all along as defenders of the Sith Order (something that will be unveiled during a flashback when the team catches up with Luke in the film).

On top of that, Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd won’t be playing Leia’s daughter but will instead be playing Leia herself in the flashback.  In this flashback we will also see the Inquisitors serving Darth Vader so, in case you were wondering if he’ll be making an appearance, he will.

star-wars-episode-7-snowtrooper-helmetDevin Faraci at Badass Digest backs this claim and offers up an exclusive of their own.  The droid hand we saw brandishing that note last week?  It belongs to the main inquisitor, who is basically an android.  Their description is as follows:

“He wears a black robe. His eyes are deep red. And half of his face is metal. He’s a cyborg. That was his hand in the picture JJ Abrams shared with the note about A Force For Change.”

He also backs up the Stormtrooper post from this morning and says that the snow trooper design matches up with the Ice Planet that the empire has commandeered to build their superweapon.

“But get this: it isn’t an ice planet. It’s an ice and forest planet. Think North of the Wall in Game of Thrones.”

Honestly, that sounds really cool.  I’m not a huge Star Wars guy but this movie really seems to be coming together to align with the first two installments.

I like how all these web sites are posting this as 100% fact instead of what it actually is… An unconfirmed rumor.

I don’t see whats so great about Star Wars anyhow
The first movie was good not great not the best movie I’ve seen from 1977 let along the 70s

It has some of the worst acting ever
The second one was good but got boring real fast, atrocious acting again. The best part was Yoda he was real funny
The third one started lame and got boring by the third act. It looks like a cheap TV movie
    I’ve never seen the prequels
What’s so great about Star Wars I don’t know
At least the original Star Trek movies have great acting and dialogues
I’m not looking forward to any new Star Wars movie anyhow

Wow, thanks for letting everyone know about your dislike for Star Wars. Everyone reading this article really wanted to know what “Mixed race rich kid NYC” thinks. But all sarcasm aside, YOU DON’T MATTER TO ANYONE. You are insignificant. You troll articles and spew trash talk about films that you know the readers are passionate about in order to get people to engage with you so you can feel like you left your mark on the world. But you really don’t matter to anyone. You could die right now and your zebra parents would thank god that they finally got rid of their bitchy, whiny-ass, self entitled, wanna-be black but more vanilla-looking. sissified, scared of a fight mama’s boy, loser, virgin son was finally taken off their hands

        Jesus Christ
        I can’t share my opinions ???
        What is this apartheid ?
I just don’t see why Star Wars is so popular given that the movies are not great
        That’s it
This is my first and maybe last time I write on a Star Wars post

      • http://www.collider.com/ DNAsplitter

And not write things like “Must be a white person thing”. If that’s the case then 50% of you should love it. Just sayin’.

      • Mixed race rich kid NYC

        What?

      • Kyle Chandler

ok. I’ll admit it. “What is this apartheid?” made me laugh.

      • DavidisALLright

You do realize he’s just baiting right?

    • Agent777

      Racist.

  • Vulcan

Not that I necessarily believe the rumors, I’m just wondering who is supposedly playing the android Inquisitor? Is it Adam Driver? It also sounds like it could be motion capture, so Andy Serkis maybe?

  • Neo Racer

Another robot villain! It worked so well with Grievous after all

    • Vulcan

Grievous is pretty badass. The problem with him in Episode III was that most people missed his introduction in the Cartoon Network Clone Wars series that came out before III, so they had no idea who he was or why he had light sabers. But the second Clone Wars series really goes into his character and back story, and he is pretty awesome.

      • Aquartertoseven

Do they? I don’t remember his back story and character being explored. He was incredible in the 2003 series though, George Lucas must have been annoyed that by comparison, his version of the character absolutely sucked.

    • Christopher Sims

Yeah, I agree with Vulcan. In the Clone Wars series that I saw, he was absolutely terrifying actually. He made 5 or 6 Jedi act like teens from a slasher film. One of those Jedi was actually a Jedi Master that barely survived the encounter. The lightsabers were like trophies of Jedi heads he carried around his waist. There was even a excellent sequence on Coruscant where Chancellor Palpatine was kidnapped, which led into the 3rd prequel film, that depicted not only a full scale attack on Coruscant but about 3 Jedi Masters defending the Chancellor from being taken by Grevious.

      • Grendal Sven

I remember Windu crushing his chest plate right before they boarded the ship, which was supposed to be why he was coughing and wheezing throughout the films.

      • Christopher Sims

Right! That was epic! It speaks volumes to how powerful Mace Windu is that these other Jedi masters are struggling with Grievous and he just disables him so fast.

Darth Vader? Young Princess Leia (with bagel hair no doubt)? The prequels were ropey, but at least Lucas created completely new elements. Abrams (as he did with Star Trek) seems to be putting his nostalgia checklist ahead of new concepts. Expect a leak about Obi Wan coming back to have a drink with Greedo – in flashback – soon.
(And yes, I can’t wait to see the bastard film).

  • Melissa Brookes

SOOO BACIALLY all he is doing is COPYING the old movies?? HOTH and DARTH….Just like with star trek in doing wrath of khan!!?? Do something NEW and original for crying out loud.

    • Person who Helps

Please read the article again. It does not say the planet is Hoth. It says that it is an ice and forest planet.

    • DavidisALLright

Did you not read the article? It’s almost like a stream of consciousness while being misinformed.

  • Just_Not_Cricket

BadAss Digest and Latino Review are two of the worst rumor mongers in the business. I’m not buying it.

  • doctor_robot

    eh… flashbacks?

    • 80sRobot

Yes this could be problematic since flashbacks have never been used in the other two trilogies. It’s just not part of the Star Wars movie storytelling formula. However:

If the movie’s opening minutes are set in a time period prior to the events of Episode IV (so this is when the Darth Vader and young Leia scenes are used), and then the movie moves forward 30+ years, then this wouldn’t be a flashback. This time-jump hasn’t been used in a SW movie either, but it wouldn’t be as jarring as a flashback that happens right in the middle of the movie’s plot.

So I am wondering if this is what JJ wrote, a time-jump, which would be similar to how his first Star Trek movie opened.

“the Star Wars movie storytelling formula”

        the three basic components:
        bad dialogue.
        inconsistent universe and mythology.
using fuckin’ wipes instead of cuts.

        I miss anything?

All Abrams has to do is get the movie off to a good start, which I think he proved he can with star trek 09.

    • HerbalHobgoblin

Well that is the issue that his ST…it felt more like a SW movie…

Darth Vaders in it? Well now I AM watching this….hope he’s 6’7 though because Hayden was so short I wanted to set the theater on fire I was so angry. I mean come ON its DARTH VADER – get the height right.

    • Warriorscribe

      Darth Vader was part machine.

Perhaps they replaced his legs with mechanical ones after Obi-won effed him up?

  • Grayden

I’m more concerned with the fact that we’re getting the Empire building another super weapon again. Y’know, it’d be really nice if we could get some really deep, intriguing stories to go along with this universe. Winter Soldier did an excellent job melding political undertones with the action. It was a pretty thrilling adventure. I’d love to see something that deep for Star Wars instead of just…oh look…another weapon of ultimate destruction. Because that worked out so well for you guys the previous TWO TIMES you did it!

    • D

Not that The Winter Soldier didn’t ultimately involve a last-act battle to disable the bad guys’ super-weapon…

    • PeaSoup

Snowpiercer did an excellent job melding political undertones with the action – it was also a core component of the narrative. Winter Soldier dipped it’s big superhero toe in, but had little to offer to the debate regarding its villains motives and end-goal, resorting to lowest-common denominator badguys v. goodguys Marvel-identikit 3rd act.

Yes, they tried. No, they didn’t succeed.

Is Luke and Han’s characters also getting flashbacks? Are Hamil and Fords’ sons playing their dads too? Nepotism much?

  • seanmanband

This is fake! Star Wars movies don’t have flashbacks. I could see the Inquisitors being part of it but their back story would be explained not shown, and I seriously doubt Carries daughter would be playin a young Leia, sounds cheap and a typical Latino Review ‘news’ fan fiction

    • bigfrog

Star Wars also didn’t have horror film dream sequences until Return of the Sith.

  • Threlly

    I like Star Wars.
    It’s very good.
