Now that most of the Star Wars: Episode VII cast has been announced, we can turn our attention to other speculative pursuits like trying to guess the film’s title.  The title doesn’t really matter in the sense of whether or not it will steer people to see the movie.  You could call the film Star Wars: Episode VII – Dead Puppies, and people would still flock to see it.  I doubt that will be the title (probably wouldn’t test well), but for right now all we can really hope for is a working title, and keep our eye on the horizon for the real one.

Hit the jump for what the Star Wars: Episode VII working title might be and how it could relate to the story.  The film opens December 18, 2015, and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.

According to AICN, the working title for Star Wars: Episode VII is “The Ancient Fear“, and it refers to Max von Sydow’s character, a villain “who makes Pazuzu [the demon from The Exorcist] look like a pussy!”  You heard it folks: this is a character who’s even worse than a demon that took possession of a small child and made her do unspeakable things with a crucifix.

gawd sounds horrible, are we sure Lucas isn’t sticking his finger into the pie here?!?

    • Your name here

“The Ancient Fear” could be space herpies from The Ice Pirates. Remember that movie?

Lol. That’s literally the only thing I remember about that movie.

true and if it sucks, JJ can recut it, leave out all mentions of a planet Zeist, and call it The Renegade Cut

Dead puppies does have a ring to it

    • The Flobbit

I’m thinking Danny Boyle, based off a Chuck Pahlaniuk novel. Starring Edward Norton and Rooney Mara…

  • The Flobbit

The Ancient Fear…The Phantom Menace. Both titles are about dangerous threats to the galaxy that have not yet arisen. And both threats bubble under the surface to burst forth in the second film. I seriously hope we’re not going to have an entire film that’s nothing but exposition and set up.

  • ComixFan

When was the last time AICN was right with a scoop?

      1997 is my guess

        hahaha

Haha, it’s fucking AICN. That redheaded beast that runs the site doesn’t have the slightest clue what the title is gonna be.

Maybe it’s that death cheating Darth Plagueis from the story Palpatine told in Episode III from “Fairy Tales to tell your Dark Side Apprentice?” Hopefully they leave the effing midi-chlorians out. Maybe he never died and comes back with a whole truck (super star destroyer) load of Sith. It’s like poetry, it rhymes.

i’ll take it especially if MVS is that Evil. They need A Evil Heavy. Palpatine was Power hungry greedy Evil. We need Devil Evil. just do it well please

How about Star Wars Episode VII-The Ewoks Wrath?

  • the king of comedy

I like most of the Star Wars titles, even tough the prequels were lazy “The Phanton Menace” “Atack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith” carried an epic sound to them, on the other hand Max Von Sydow does look like a badass Sith Lord, I`m not even sure if we needed more Star Wars movies, but I`m looking forward to them and I hope they live up to the expectations.

never let any hint of menace be displayed. the Menace must remain Phantom

      • Person

LMAO that’s hilarious, never seen that before.
That is one of the best fight scenes in the whole series, though. And I have a soft spot for that movie (it’s the first Star Wars I ever saw). Speaking of which, they really need to release the 3D version of it onto Blu-ray. I feel like one of eight people in the world that saw the 3D re-release a couple years ago…..

      • yrulaughing418

eh, in terms of choreography I think Revenge of the Sith has the best fight scenes, though the Anakin vs Obi-wan battle drags on for so long that you forget why they’re fighting

      • Person

Yeah I just said that Duel of the Fates from TPM was one of the best, not the best. I’m still partial to the Yoda/Dooku encounter from Ep. II. Seeing that for the first time in theaters = mind blown. I still get a kick out of it.

since JJ likes to constantly reference everything, how about Star Wars Episode VII: The Wrath of Thrawn

    though Thrawn and the rest of the EU are no longer canon ;_;

Star Wars: Episode VII: The Wrath of Khawn.

  • T_Toughnuts

I don’t think it has anything to do with a single character…I think it is just talking about what everyone fears…DEATH

    • Luis Romero

all titles were about a character, it maybe is dark plagueis, palpatine’s mentor

Empire Strikes Back, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith

      • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

You can add Phantom menace as well. Phantom stands for the intangible menace and not for who is behind the menace.

      • Luis Romero

the phantom menace was palpatine, i believed lucas talk about it somewhere in the extras o director commentaries.

      • Ruprect

Give up. You’ve lost and just keep digging.

      • Luis Romero

        jajaj, yes a little

      • http://tarek-to-verso.over-blog.com/ tarek

Literally it is not. Palpatine is not a phantom. But his menace is.
And frankly, who cares what says Lucas. He became senile since Star wars VI.

      • Luis Romero

Empire, clones and sith are characters, arent they? Death is more an ambiguos idea not a character. i think even the new hope could one of the skywalkers son. but i could be wrong
