A host of character posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens have debuted online today. They show off new looks at old characters and new characters alike, including Harrison Ford's Han Solo and Carrie Fisher's Leia, plus Daisy Ridley's Rey, John Boyega's Finn, and Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Poor Driver is the only one who's trapped behind his mask, but as we saw in the full trailer for the film, he really, really loves that mask of his.
At first blush, these posters are pretty cool because STAR WARS! But once you take a closer look, they're just kind of ... odd. Ford's nose looks like it was either poorly photoshopped or intentionally broken. I also don't really get the idea to do the one-eyed motif unless it was intended only to keep a common thread through each of the posters. They do, however, give a good look at Han's blaster, Rey's staff, and Leia's ... earring, for you cosplayers. This is actually the best look we've gotten of Leia so far, and if the holographic green stripes are any indication, perhaps she'll be starring in some sort of command/bridge/authority role in the movie. I wouldn't read too deeply into these posters though.
J.J. Abrams' latest installment in the Star Wars franchise also stars Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Peter Mayhew, Warwick Davis, Simon Pegg, Kenny Baker, Andy Serkis, and presumably Mark Hamill, and opens December 18th.
