As I’ve said before, if you want to go to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you may as well get in line right now. The highly anticipated theme park is one of the biggest parks Disney has ever done, an attempt to make an immersive Star Wars experience for attendees. This is a Star Wars nerd’s dream come true, and it’s also one of the reasons Disney shelled out big bucks for Lucasfilm in the first place. Yes, creating new Star Wars movies is all well and good, but when you’re Disney and you’ve also got a theme park element to your business empire, you’re obviously going to create some Star Wars stuff.

While we knew that Galaxy’s Edge was arriving this year, Disney has now announced when the parks will open. Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland on May 31st and at Walt Disney World on August 29th. However, it should be noted that no-cost reservations are required to visit the Disneyland location between May 31st and June 23rd, and the ride Rise of the Resistance will not be open quite yet.

As we previously reported, in addition to their own food and merch, Galaxy’s Edge will have two marquee rides. In Smuggler’s Run, you’ll be in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, which seems pretty amazing all on its own, but then you’ll be thrust into a chase through the galaxy on a ship that may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts. Rise of the Resistance will put you in the middle of the battle between the Resistance and the First Order and will even have you encountering Kylo Ren.
