As you most likely already know, all six Star Wars films are being re-released in theaters in 3D, starting with Episode I: The Phantom Menace (ie. you have to sit through the prequels before seeing The Empire Strikes Back on the big screen again). The first trailer for Episode I has been released, and it does a pretty good job of selling the re-release. It begins with scenes from all six films in a tiny box, in order to remind you that even though you just bought the complete saga on Blu-ray, your TV is incredibly small and insufficient when compared to a movie theater. The actual scenes from Episode I look fine, and the pod-racing scene should be pretty spectacular. Unfortunately, the 3D doesn’t necessarily enhance Jake Lloyd.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D opens on February 10th, 2012.
No Jar Jar in the entire trailer. Thank god.
Well he’s still in the movie.
LMAO.
Will. Not. See.
Meh in 3D
Please stop supporting this fat, overrated, business man, Star Wars and ESB with great because of George+Gary Kurtz – their combined effort made star wars great. When Gary left after ESB (because it became all about selling toys for George) every other movie sucked.

Absolutely will not see. This will do terrible business at the box office. I don’t think Lucas understands how much people hate this film. McCallum told him it was great in ’99 and he’s probably telling him that it is a classic in 2011.
Despite the backlash against the prequels still a fair amount of people will see this.
That’s because the backlash is from a small loud minority—It’ll do very well
why everyone hate on Jar Jar so much…lol ive seen worse characters?
“experience the wonder..the excitement”
What movie are they talking about??
Yeah… I’ll be waiting for Episode IV, V and VI.
Why hate Jar Jar? I liked that character I thought he brought humor to the movie.
I do however think they should stop re-editing the movies so many dang times! I was a kid when I saw star wars special edition in 1997. (I thought it was so awesome) I have not been able to see the original 1977 version of it. I guess I never will. My future kid will probably never see the 1977 nor the 1997 because he will probably see the 2017 special edition. LOL
Why is everything green and yellow?
Those people that seem too hate the franshise/prequels but really must like them because it still has the power to generate enough interest from them and draw them out and make them go out of their way to comment.
Exactly.
You can ram it George, the prequels are inferior to the originals (and will be until you’ve tweaked all the goodness out of them)
I will buy harder.
George is always right.
3 films good, 6 films better!
Not one more cent George Lucas, not for this movie, i dont care if natalie portmans 3d image comes out of the screen and gives me an old fashion. Not happening
Oh come on. That would be worth it.
Okay, here’s the story for those wondering why we keep posting broken trailers:
The trailer works when we post it. Fox is furiously removing trailers from YouTube because that’s how they roll. We have to find a new embed and it goes back and forth.
So if you click on the article and the trailer isn’t working, come back in a couple hours and we should have the embed replaced.
Everyone complains about George Lucas, and Star Wars the preqs. but EVERYONE will still pay for these, hasn’t that been proven with the Blu-ray box set everyone was in arms about, but STILL bought?
didn’t buy the bluray and don’t plan to see the 3d prequels movie. doubt its just me. but there are obviously more people that don’t care. good for them. they keep getting more of what they pay for – crappy changes.
i honestly wonder if GL is dumbing down ANH and ESB to make them more on par with the PT on purpose? Then he has 6 semi-average movies that are all his, instead of 2 great ones which he shares with Kurtz and 4 semi-average ones to call his own.
Ok so despite Jar-Jar and the strange yoda has anyone actually watched this film? It is a classic Star Wars film. Watch it and then watch new hope. It’s got the exact same feel about it. And you can’t deny the final battle with Obi Wan Qui Gon and Darth Maul isn’t one of the most spectacular fight scenes in any of the six films. Sure this one had it’s faults as did the other two prequels but in the end the feel is undeniably Star Wars and it’s still a good movie. I can’t wait to see it again in 3D.
Jar-Jar did bring an Unessacary amount of humor into the films.
