Star Wars: The Clone Wars had no shortage of fantastic side characters during its six-season run, and one fan favorite looks like she'll be making a return to the small screen in Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels. While that show centers on the title team of Freddie Prinze Jr.'s Kanan, Vanessa Marshall's Hera, Steve Blum's Zeb, Tiya Sircar's Sabine, and Taylor Gray's Ezra, the cast will be expanded once more thanks to a surprise guest spot.

During an appearance in Australia's Sydney Comic-Con, Jedi News UK (via CBR) learned that Katee Sackhoff would be reprising her Star Wars: The Clone Wars role of Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan Kryze for the upcoming season of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels. For long-time fans of the Star Wars TV series, this should come as a delightful bit of news since Bo-Katan played a pivotal role in the events of the previous series and came loaded with an arsenal of imaginative weaponry that aided her ever-changing allegiances.

Bo-Katan Kryze, a female human Mandalorian warrior, originally pledged her loyalty to the splinter faction, Death Watch. This put her at odds with her own sister Duchess Satine, whom the group sought to overthrow under the leadership of Pre Vizsla. When Darth Maul complicated those plans and inserted himself as ruler of Mandalore, Bo-Katan rebelled and led her own team of Death Watch loyalists known as the Nite Owls, which briefly allied themselves with Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's currently unknown just what state Bo-Katan and her allegiances will be in when the character returns this season, but Sackhoff has already turned in her voice performance, so we should find out soon.

Star Wars Rebels returns to Disney XD at 8:30 p.m.(ET) on Saturday, September 24th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Season 3 of Star Wars Rebels:

Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet – a direct assault on the Empire.

“Star Wars Rebels” is created by Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”), and Carrie Beck. The Lucasfilm Animation production is executive produced by Filoni and Kinberg, and co-executive produced by Henry Gilroy.

The talented returning voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr. as Kanan, Vanessa Marshall as Hera, Steve Blum as Zeb, Tiya Sircar as Sabine, Taylor Gray as Ezra, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex, Captain Gregor and Commander Wolffe, Sam Witwer as Darth Maul and David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus.  New to this season are Tom Baker (“Dr. Who”) as the intriguing Force-wise Bendu and Lars Mikkelsen (“House of Cards”) as the Star Wars Legends fan-favorite Grand Admiral Thrawn.
