STAR WARS REBELS Extended Trailer; Exclusive Preview Screening Planned for Comic-Con

     July 22, 2014

The team behind Star Wars Rebels is giving up just a little more material before their panel and that preview screening at San Diego Comic-Con.  In addition to the footage we got in that full trailer back in May, this extended version adds a message from Obi-Wan Kenobi revealing that the Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen.  However, that’s when a 14-year-old con artist named Ezra (voiced by Taylor Gray) gets to step up.  Not only does he have a flair for stealing from the Empire, but he’s also got the ability to tap into the Force without even knowing it. Check out what happens when Ezra teams up with Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and the rest of the crew aboard The Ghost in the Star Wars Rebels extended trailer after the jump.  The show premieres on Disney XD in the fall and also features the voices of Vanessa Marshall, David Oyelowo and Steven Jay Blum. If you’d like to catch what the show’s bringing to Comic-Con, the “Heroes of Stars Wars Rebels” panel will take place on Thursday, July 24th with executive producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg as well as Prinze Jr., Marshall, Blum, Gray and Tiya Sircar.  Then of course there’s that exclusive preview screening.  It’s going down on Thursday at 8:30pm at the Reading Cinemas, Gaslamp 15.

Here’s the official synopsis for Star Wars: Rebels:

Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.  It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world.  As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.  But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost.  Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.

    So generic, hahaha

    • Leo Spaceman

Generic my ass. This show has a dammed laser slingshot. No one has ever had something as original as a laser slingshot since the idea to have a laser sword. This is utter brilliance!

  • Marvin

Sounds a little better, but Ezra seems annoying, so I hope they don’t focus too much on him, or quickly make him less annoying.

    • MITIOR

Ashoka started even more annoying than that and look what happened when the show itself matured.

      • MEY

I think they are going to apply the same approach.
And look at the writer of the post!

      • MITIOR

haha true! I’m OK with another writer. I think that kid Ezra is going to grow on us, the team is really good at character development and this time around they added more great storytellers to the crew.

    Can’t WAIT for this!!

  • GunzOfNavarone

Sigh, this looks so horrible. It looks like playstation 1 fmv from aladdin the game.

  • Melwing

Everything else about this hasn’t interested me, but for some reason this trailer ‘clicked’. I thought it was pretty good.

  • eternalozzie

I was uninterested at first but now that I know a little more about Ezra it actually sounds kind of cool.

    October can’t come soon enough!

I preferred The Clone Wars to most of the movies,I really thought it was amazing. So,they took all that great character design and writing and simplified it for the masses,it’s obvious it’s a kids show now. They took what was great, gorgeous to look at,stylish, awesome fun and went for the Transformers crowd.I’m gonna say it-Fuck You Disney, this is fucking horrible.

    • MITIOR

I don’t prefer it over the movies but I think the clone wars ADDED to the value of the movies in a great way! The Yoda episode really tied both trilogies together for this character.
