Gareth Edwards’ anthology film, Star Wars: Rogue One is due out December 16th of next year, but we don't know too much about the film's characters just yet. That might be about to change since some rumors are starting to emerge concerning Felicity Jones' character. She was previously thought to be one of the rebel soldiers in the film, which centers on a group of rebel fighters who are planning to steal the Death Star plans. A new rumor offers up an odd but intriguing twist on her character, but since it may be a plot spoiler, consider this your warning to stop reading.

In the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press (via /Film), El Mayimbe shared his scoop that Jones' character may be the daughter of infamous and fan-favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett. He did stress that this is just a rumor he heard with no confirmation from anyone in an official capacity, but there you have it. The fact that he wasn't even going to run this rumor on his own site before the Popcorn Talk video should be more evidence as to just how insubstantial this rumor is at the moment. Still, it would be a pretty interesting plot point to have the film's lead protagonist come pre-packaged with all sorts of family baggage. A pro-Rebel hero conflicting with a pro-Empire bounty hunter dad? Why not!

As for somewhat more substantial character news, we previously reported that Forest Whitaker was in negotiations for the standalone film that will take place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, with its chronology leaning closer to the original Star Wars film. Ben Mendelsohn is set as the main villain; Riz Ahmed and Diego Luna are also rumored to play rebel fighters. Sam Claflin is also rumored to star.
