The musical stylings of Jean-Ralphio are legendary, from “I got run out by a Lexus” to the high-pitched “Flushed with CAAASH!” to the classic “She’s the WOOORST!” But now the Parks and Recreation character has a new purpose in life: being the voice of BB-8. As he’d say, “I hope you brought a change of clothes. Your eyes are about to piss tears.”

Ben Schwartz played the spoiled but hilarious buddy of Tom Haverferd (Aziz Ansari) on the NBC series, and he lightens the mood of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Jesse Carp, on Twitter as @JesseCrap, reimagined the lovable droid BB-8 as Jean-Ralph-E0 as he meets Rey (Daisy Ridley) in the Jakku desert. Subsequently, he tries to pick her up in the only way someone like Jean-Ralphio knows.

Much like Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope and Aubrey Plaza’s April, our new Jedi in training is having none of it. Watch below:

There was a lot to love about Parks & Recreation, but I’m glad to see Jean-Ralphio gets his due. But this isn’t the first time someone dropped the character’s voice in the world of Star Wars. A video circulating back in January took his “technically I’m homeless” bit from season 5’s “Ben’s Parents” and put it over promo footage for The Force Awakens.

Schwartz worked with Bill Hader and J.J. Abrams to craft the sounds of BB-8. During a video posted by Reddit, the funnyman revealed he recorded actually dialogue for the droid that was then sent to Lucasfilm and reverted into beeps and boops:

Elsewhere, Hader explained,

[It was] J.J. fucking around with this sound effects app on his iPad that was attached to a talk box operated by me. It looked ridiculous but it made BB-8’s voice. At first I tried doing a voice, but we all agreed it sounded too human.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now available on home release, so you can likely expect quite a few more mashups and fun with the material coming.
