***Consider this your strong spoiler warning if you haven't seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet.***

By now you've probably had a chance to check out J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there's a good chance you haven't spotted all of the film's numerous cameos just yet. Sure, you may have heard about Daniel Craig getting to don Stormtrooper armor, or that Kenny Baker returned to consult on all things R2-D2, or that good guy Greg Grunberg played a Resistance fighter pilot, but there are so many masked movie-stars that you'd need a handy guide to spot them all. Look no further because we've got just the guide you need!

We've gathered up all the cameo bits, big and small, from around the net now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had a couple of weeks to play in theaters around the world. No droid will be overlooked, no costumed character shall go unmasked, and no shadowy figure at the back of the bar will be able to hide for long. We'll update these cameos as more information is made available, but for now, this should serve as a good start for your multiple re-watches of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Force for Change Winner

Check out the winner of the Star Wars: Force for Change charity contest D.C. Barns in costume as a patron at Maz Kanata's bar, alongside an unrecognizable Warwick Davis:

Note: If you thought J.J. Abrams' assistant Morgan Dameron had a familiar last name, it's no coincidence. As a way to say thanks, Oscar Isaac's character Poe Dameron was named in part for her.

Carrie Fisher's Daughter, Billie Lourd

We brought you an early look at Billie Lourd's Star Wars: The Force Awakens character a while back, but a bit more info has has emerged since the movie opened. In IMDb's casting list, her character is named Lieutenant Connix. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary also lists her name as Kaydel Ko, so I'd say it's safe to assume her full title would be Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix. /Film more or less confirmed as much with the book's author, Pablo Hidalgo:

[EMBED_TWITTER]https://twitter.com/pablohidalgo/status/679062726983946241[/EMBED_TWITTER]

/Film also pegged Lourd's droid co-star PZ-4CO, a protocol droid who assisted the Resistance and, specifically, General Leia Organa. In case you missed Lourd and PZ-4CO during the movie itself, take a look at them below:

J.J. Abrams' Father

Director J.J. Abrams has conjured up cameo opportunities for his father Gerald Abrams over the course of his career. Back in 2000, Gerry appeared on his son's creation Felicity as Judge David Amann in the third episode of season three, "Hello, I Must Be Going." It wasn't until Abrams' Star Trek reboot that his father got a movie cameo as "Barfly", which he followed up in Star Trek Into Darkness as "Starfleet Memorial Admiral."

The elder Abrams finally gets a feature character name in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Captain Cypress, a member of the Resistance who can be seen in the background in one particular close-up shot of General Leia when she's speaking with Han. And while we haven't seen a photo of Captain Cypress just yet, we do have this lovely image of the Abrams below, thanks to an interview with Gerry Abrams from Penn Live:

Warwick Davis' Wollivan

star-wars-the-force-awakens-warwick-davis-wollivan

We glimpsed Warwick Davis' character Wollivan in an earlier image, but we've got a better look at the character - a male Blarina, according to Wookieepedia - now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out. According to the visual dictionary mentioned above, Wollivan "worked as an interstellar scout and hyperspace trailblazer; he sold valuable astrogation data and scavenged trinkets to smugglers and traders for a living, though he would sometimes gamble his products away." The character is seen in Maz Kanata's castle and apparently was a frequent patron of the bar there.

Star Wars fans will remember that Davis played a number of roles in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, but most notably played the Ewok character Wicket W. Warrick in Star Wars: Episode IV - Return of the Jedi.

Yolo Ziff Spots the Starkiller Base's Weakness

Stefan Grube had two very important jobs related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens: the first was behind the scenes as the editor for the film's trailers, and the second was on screen as X-Wing pilot Yolo Ziff who spotted the smoking hole in the Starkiller Base's thermal oscillator that allowed Poe Dameron to play the hero by destroying it. /Film brought this one to our attention as well, but Grube's a tough guy to track down. In addition to winning the "Best Drama TV Spot Award" for There Will Be Blood at The Hollywood Reporter's 37th Annual Movie Marketing Key Art Awards in 2008, Grube directed this teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams' book project, "S."

Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Now for the first of many Game of Thrones cameos in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we look to Jojen Reed himself, Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Brodie-Sangster plays a First Order Officer according to the credits, but is also listed as Petty Officer Thanisson in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary.

The Love Actually actor does actually get a line in the film, which is a better deal than most of the cameos on this list. You can spot him about 20 minutes or so into the movie just after Finn and Poe hijack a TIE Fighter to escape the First Order. He's the officer who announces an "unscheduled departure", and is soon blown up when the pirated spacecraft shoots up the control room. Brodie-Sangster is in danger of becoming the new Sean Bean since he's having a tough time staying alive in his various franchise roles. Then again, it worked out pretty well for Bean over the years, so we'll probably be seeing Brodie-Sangster again soon, just not in a galaxy far, far away.

Game of Thrones Cameos

In addition to Brodie-Sangster's appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans of Game of Thrones will note quite a few cast members crossing over between franchises. Part of the reason for this is that these actors are either up-and-comers or veterans in the field, and another part is that both properties shared the same casting director, Nina Gold. So while Max von Sydow's Star Wars character Lor San Tekka and Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma don't get a whole lot of screentime or even lines of dialogue, there are other Game of Thrones cast members who get much less (h/t to /Film):

Jessica Henwick: Set to return in Season 6 of HBO's Game of Thrones as Nymeria Sand, Henwick was also seen as Jessika Pava/Jess/Testor. A Resistance X-Wing fighter pilot with the call sign of Blue Three, Testor was an admirer of Luke Skywalker and managed to get the protocol droid C-3PO to tell her a story about Luke's Jedi training.

Miltos Yerolemou: Previously seen as swordmaster Syrio Florel on Game of Thrones, Yerolemou has been relegated to "Bar Patron" in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Mark Stanley: Recruited into the Night's Watch as Game of Thrones' Grenn, Stanley is reported as being one of the Knights of Ren. Since we don't see any of their faces in The Force Awakens, perhaps he'll return for future films. Then again, as you'll see with other cameos on this list, the costumed part might have been Stanley's one and only role in the franchise.

Emun Elliot: Having previously played Marillion, a singer in the Seven Kingdoms who had his tongue cut out on Game of Thrones, Elliot regains his ability to speak, uttering the line, "A laser cannon?" as one of the Resistance fighters.

Daniel Craig's Stormtrooper

spectre-daniel-craig-5

We already brought you word about this particular cameo in which Daniel Craig plays a Stormtrooper. Craig denied the truth of rumors about this cameo in the weeks leading up to the film's release, but the opportunity for it was there since both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Spectre were filming at Pinewood Studios at the time. As for the cameo, though it's rare to hear a Stormtrooper delivering more than a few grunts or ill-aimed laser blasts, you still probably wouldn't have known that it was James Bond beneath the armored helmet. Then again, if someone happened to spoil it for you ahead of time and robbed you of the chance to find it out for yourself after the fact, the "Stormtrooper with the slight British accent" was a pretty easy one to spot.

The scene in question occurs when Rey has been kidnapped by the First Order and has just survived an interrogation by Kylo Ren. Much like the title of Star Wars: The Force Awakens promises, this scene is essentially Rey's awakening to her ability to use the Force. She takes to it rather quickly and is able to telepathically force Craig's Stormtrooper guard into freeing her from her restraints ... after a bit of practice, that is. Oh and if you were wondering what his Stormtrooper designation was, it's JB-007, of course.

Michael Giacchino's Stormtrooper

Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino might not have the cool factor of James Bond, but there's one thing they have in common: both have played Stormtroopers in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Giacchino certainly has a relationship with Abrams, having composed both the 2009 reboot Star Trek and the follow-up Star Trek Into Darkness. Though he didn't play that part for the newest Star Wars - a fella by the name of John Williamfilled that role - he did get a chance to don the iconic armor as Stormtrooper FN-3181.

Like other Stormtrooper designations in the film that have hidden meanings - ie John Boyega's Finn is FN-2187, a nod to Leia's holding cell in the Death Star detention block in the original film - it's been theorized that Giacchino's Stormtrooper number is a reference to George Lucas' film THX 1138. Giacchino also had himself a small cameo role as Deputy Crawford in Abrams' 2011 sci-fi film, Super 8. According to /Film, Giacchino’s Stormtrooper throws Poe Dameron down in front of Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base, so keep an eye out for him the next time you see it.

Nigel Godrich's Stormtrooper

You might not recognize the name, but Nigel Godrich is the record producer and recording engineer for Radiohead, often referred to as the band's "sixth man." You can also refer to him as Stormtrooper FN-9330 from now on since that's the designation his character was assigned in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We're not sure if that number has any particular significance, but we have an idea of where you might be able to spot him in the film. According to reddit, he's the Stormtrooper who gets blasted by Han inside the Starkiller Base and gets sent flying into a wall. As for how he got involved with the picture at all, it seems like writer/director Edgar Wright may have had something to do with it (or might just be joking), as Inverse reported:

Morgan Dameron's Resistance Officer

Like we mentioned earlier in the article, the character of Poe Dameron was named in part for J.J. Abrams' assistant, Morgan Dameron. She was doubly rewarded for her hard work with a cameo as Resistance Officer Commodore Meta. Here's what Abrams said about using her name for the ace starfighter pilot (via EW):

“Dameron came out because it was, obviously, a name that I know, and it just musically felt right. There was no sort of deep reasoning behind it, and I also knew it would make Morgan blush if we named a character that. So she had this giant smile on her face. We kept it for awhile, and it just stuck like things that work seem to."

As for the character's first name, some folks theorized that it might have been a nod to Star Trek digital effects supervisor Darren Poe, to Edgar Allan Poe, or even Nicolas Cage's Con Air character Cameron Poe. None of these are close.

“We went through a bunch of different names, and Poe ultimately felt like the right name. Someone reminded me recently that my daughter had had a polar bear named Poe [or Po’ — short for “polar”], and that might’ve been why it felt right. There was a kind of sweetness to, and a charm to that name.”

Feel free to refer to Poe Dameron as "Bear Assistant" from now on.

Judah Friedlander

Listed merely as a "Bar Patron" and not the expected "scruffy-looking nerf-herder", comedian and 30 Rock alumnus Judah Friedlander has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Like lots of folks who have a cameo but aren't part of the Stormtrooper regiments, Friedlander is a patron at Maz Kanata's castle bar. Thanks to reddit (via The Interrobang), we have what might be a look at Friedlander's character, who's briefly seen turning around to face the camera/audience when Han Solo's name is shouted out in the bar.

Simon Pegg as Unkar Plutt

Image via Lucasfilm

This one might be the most famous cameo of the group, though Simon Pegg did get a fair amount of screen time and dialogue for his character, Unkar Plutt. Pegg and J.J. Abrams have worked together on three big franchises: Pegg starred as Benji Dunn in Abrams' Mission: Impossible III, Scotty in Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, and now as a colorful character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This latest character required quite a bit of uncomfortable costuming and shooting in less-than-ideal environments. The added bonus is that Pegg helped to shape this Star Wars film story-wise, and likely the future films to come. Not a bad deal, all in all.

You can see Pegg beneath his costume as Unkar Plutt, a male Crolute on Jakku who bought scraps of Rebel and Imperial ships as a junkboss in the desert wasteland. His notable interactions are with Rey, and though his portioning out of survival rations kept her alive, the "Blobfish's" greed nearly gets Rey killed when he sends his thugs to claim the droid BB-8 from her. But don't take it out on Pegg; he seems like a good guy.

Oscar Isaac's Uncle

Oscar Isaac has an incredibly fun role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but as excited as he was to be in the movie, a relative of his was even moreso. When Isaac's uncle found out that Oscar had been cast in the film, he could hardly contain his excitement. So the fact that Isaac brought his uncle to visit the set was more than the life-long Star Wars fan could have ever imagined. So just think about how surprised he must have been when J.J. Abrams offered Isaac's uncle a role as an extra - in full costume - hidden away somewhere in the film. While we don't know just where Uncle Isaac shows up yet, you can listen to Oscar Isaac tell the story to Jimmy Fallon below:

Good Luck Charm Greg Grunberg

J.J. Abrams and Greg Grunberg have quite the history together, one that stretches back to their childhood well before their work together on Felicity, Alias, and Lost. Grunberg also starred in Abrams' films Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, and Super 8. The only one he happened to miss was Star Trek Into Darkness, and Abrams didn't want to repeat that oversight for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With that in mind, his good luck charm played Resistance pilot Temmin "Snap" Wexley. His character was first introduced in the Chuck Wendig Star Wars novel, "Aftermath" and was instrumental in planning the assault on the Starkiller Base.

Though Grunberg's character in Heroes already has an action figure, something tells me that this one from Star Wars: The Force Awakens might be worth a bit more some day:

Ken Leung's Admiral Statura

Perhaps best known in nerdy circles for playing Kid Omega Quill in X-Men: The Last Stand and Miles Straume in J.J. Abrams' Lost, Ken Leung appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Admiral Statura. Not a bad cameo, getting to play an admiral. Even better when you get to plan the assault on the Starkiller Base and get the bright idea that destroying the thermal oscillator will allow the destruction of the entire superweapon. Check out Leung as Statura alongside General Leia Organa and C-3PO below (via Angry Asian Man):

Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz Bring BB-8 to Life

star-wars-the-force-awakens-daisy-ridley-bb-8
Image via Lucasfilm

The breakout star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens might not be Daisy RidleyJohn BoyegaOscar Isaac, or Adam Driver, but rather the roly-poly droid, BB-8. The eye-catching design and off-the-charts cuteness quotient made the new addition to the Star Wars universe an instant favorite and likely a mega marketing property for years to come. But who was responsible for bringing the humorous and mischievous little droid to life?

As we reported earlier this yearBill Hader and Ben Schwartz were given "Voice Consultant" credits for BB-8, meaning that they toyed around with an iPad sound effects app that was connected to a talk box operated by Hader. While BB-8 is sure to stick around for the next few films, I'm not entirely sure if Hader and Schwartz will be called in for more "consulting" or if they've already got all their silly sounds recorded in perpetuity.

R2-KT

Fans surely know R2-D2 and C-3PO, and probably know BB-8 an almost equal measure by this point, but how much do you know about R2-KT? As reported by Telegraph, this R2 model with a pink-and-white design was created and named for cancer sufferer, Katie Johnson. The droid itself was actually designed by Johnson's father Albin after Katie was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and was built by the R2 Builders' Club, which also designed other droids for the movie. However, time was short and the build wasn't quite finished, so R2-D2 owner Andy Schwartz painted his own model pink as a gift to the little girl.

Unfortunately, Katie passed away in 2005, but her memory lives on in the new films. R2-KT appears three times in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, always with the Resistance, of course. You can find the charitable droid:

  • Behind Poe Dameron’s ship during the scene in which he runs towards Finn
  • At the rebel base, on the lower right hand side of the screen
  • At the rebel base at the end of the film, when a injured fighter is being loaded on to a transporter

Take a look at R2-KT in action below:

Abrams also incorporated the logo for the 501st Legion - a worldwide group of Star Wars super-fans named after a battalion of Stormtroopers who fought during the Clone Wars - into the film, as spotted by Albin Johnson himself.

'The Raid' Stars Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, and Cecep A. Rahman

Vanity Fair brings attention to the stars of the hit action movie The Raid, because even though these actors aren't exactly household names, they do play a badass role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Meet actors/stunt performers Yayan Ruhian, Iko Uwais, and Cecep Arif Rahman who play Kanjiklub gang members Tasu Leech, Razoo Qin-Fee and Crokind Shand. These fine fellows pop up on board the freighter Eravana, trapping Han Solo and company between a rock, a hard place*, and a trio of Rathtars. While the Kanjiklub gangsters met the wrong end of a Rathtar tentacle in the scene, we might be seeing more from this criminal organization in the prequel film that centers on a younger Han Solo.

*The other group of nasties on board was the Guavian Death Gang, a group of enforcers led by the negotiator Bala-Tik. He was played by Brian Vernel, who also stars as Odda the Younger on The Last Kingdom and played Stuart "Fats" Wall in A Casual Vacancy.

J.J. Abrams and Lin-Manuel Miranda

Though you don't exactly see J.J. Abrams and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, you do hear them. They're singing vocals on the song playing in Maz Kanata's bar when Han Solo and company walk in. As MTV reports, Miranda wrote, directed, and starred in Hamilton on Broadway, and is listed as a composer of additional music for Abrams' Star Wars film. Take a listen to Abrams' talking about their collaboration on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, followed by a bonus performance from Miranda on a different episode of the show:
