HUNG and VAMPIRE DIARIES Star Stephen Amell is The CW’s ARROW

After learning that The CW was replacing its superhero void left by the end of Smallville with Arrow, based on the DC Comics hero Green Arrow, we were left to wonder who would play the superhero. Well, wonder no more as THR has learned that Stephen Amell has been cast as the titular character. The series follows Amell as a playboy by day who becomes the Green Arrow at night who fights crime in the city with a special bow and arrow. Currently the series is ordered to pilot with Green Lantern duo Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim executive producing and writing the project, so hopefully it will actually make it to air. With Hung canceled, Amell’s schedule was left free and clear for what promises to be quite the opportunity, the same kind that turned Tom Welling into a star after playing Clark Kent on Smallville.

  1. The ****?! Why wouldn’t they just use that other guy? Lol..I would rather have that wonder woman show.. at leasst we could see some booty. now well have to see some green idiot.

  2. Hrm, I guess using an older actor that would actually represent Oliver Queen better would have made sense instead of someone that looks like another Bruce Wayne(yes, I know the similarities of the characters ET AL.)

I guess I’m just a fan of the Mike Grell days of GA 20+ years ago. That was some solid story telling. Then again, I have not kept up with GA since the Kevin Smith run several years ago so I could be speaking out of turn as well.
