Screenwriter Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) has been tapped to write and direct Lakeshore Entertainment’s adaptation of the graphic novel I, Frankenstein. Kevin Grevioux’s comic takes place in a modern-day world where the monster “stands between humans and a host of other supernatural creatures looking to rise up and take over.” Heat Vision reports that the studio is hoping to shoot the film this fall.

Beattie recently made his directorial debut with the Australian action drama Tomorrow, When the War Began based on the novel series by John Marsden. The film broke box office records in Beattie’s native country and he’s poised to film two sequels back-to-back, though production won’t begin until Beattie finishes up with I, Frankenstein.
