A few days ago Warner Bros. showed the first footage from Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch at Comic-Con. I managed to see the presentation and can report the footage looked like nothing I’ve ever seen and that’s a good thing. Too often Hollywood sticks to the same formula and tries to remake or redo what’s been done before. I know a lot about Sucker Punch…and I’m extremely confident you’ve never seen this film and when it gets released next March it’s going to wow you.
Anyway, a few minutes ago we posted the first trailer. While some trailers are slow and deliberate, the footage in Sucker Punch flies by a mile a minute. In fact, some of best things are only in one frame of the trailer! So to make sure you see everything, I screen grabbed about 30 frames and they’re after the jump. Take a look. Especially if you want to see dragons, ninjas, and girls with machine guns.
Here’s the synopsis:
Set in the 1950s, “Punch” follows a girl who is confined to a mental institution by her stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain, and in that world, she begins planning her escape, needing to steal five objects to help get her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
Sucker Punch stars Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jaime Chung, Abby Cornish, Jon Hamm, and Carla Gugino.

Try finding ANYTHING that’s similar to that. It’s basically impossible to be original with movies nowadays. Everything’s been done before. This storyline is completely different from anything I’ve heard before. Every romcom is the same, every action movie’s the same, every comedy’s the same. This looks different from any movie I’ve personally ever seen before. People like you should at least be giving movies like this a chance. So instead of being pessimistic, you should just wait and see it. ‘Cause you never know, it could end up really impressing you.

I don't think this movie looks like much from other movies, it looks more like an anime movie to me. The special effects are all Snyder though, it has the same aesthetic feel of 300 with an atmosphere similar to Watchmen.

This Sucker Punch movie looks totally sick. I am actually excited.
If I could buy stock in this movie – I would! It is going to rock the box office and the film studios will be cranking out endless clones of the film for years. The critics will all talk trash but it will overwhelm everything else released in theaters for weeks to follow. I will be watching when this film turn Emily Browning into the next female “it” girl – a title that Emily redoubtably deserves. Emily is magnetic on screen and is impossibly beautiful. I am shocked at how little attention “the Uninvited” won from audiences – but I’m sure after “Sucker Punch” takes off with Browning’s star firmly attached for the flight – many of her previous roles will be rediscovered by the countless film lovers who finally figure out how amazing she truly is!
