Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, which stars Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Abbie Cornish, Oscar Isaac, Carla Gugino, and Jon Hamm. The Led Zeppelin music from the footage shown at Comic-Con earlier this year is back, and the clip features a ton of story details that gives everything gravity. Hit the jump to check out the brand new trailer, and more details on Sucker Punch.

Snyder is a polarizing director, but one thing is certain: the man knows how to create visually stunning film. Considering he got his start in music videos, that is no surprise as visuals are usually the only method of story telling in that format. Snyder has a nice catalogue of films already, including 300, Watchmen, and his latest, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.  Everything up to this point has been an adaptation or remake, but Sucker Punch is wholly original, and it looks like a kick in the teeth.

Hot chicks, badass visuals, mechs with bunnies on the front, and giant samurais; if the story that the film hints at is halfway decent, I cannot wait. I know that the film won’t appeal to everyone, but I think those that like what they see are in for a treat.

If you haven’t seen the previous trailer, it’s incredibly well cut (a staple of Snyder’s films, beginning with the outstanding 300 trailers) and fun to watch. Additionally, Steve recently posted his set visit preview. Oh, and in case you missed it, Snyder is the director for the brand new Superman film. Warner Brothers also released the official synopsis of the film earlier this week, which is below.

Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality.  Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive.  Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls—the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)—to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal.  Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.  But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey—if they succeed—will set them free.

  1. Does the movie has an actual story in it?
I thought it was going to be only a bounch of comic booky action and stuff like that (you know, explotions and crazy dead people..)

    Not liking it anymore.

    • Go back to school and learn some grammar and spelling you fucking welfare rat!
This is our future? Shit we are all going to die when these fuckers take over!!!

  4. Why Hollywood likes to cast half-tall girls in roles that require statuesque & physique?
What happens to the Peta Wilson & Lucy Lawless of the younger generation?
Like the spectacular miscasting of Scarlett Johannsson (a very good actress in dramas) as a superhero gal in IRON MAN 2. She looks like a 16 year olds trying out costume for Halloween. Not convincing at all. However Rachel Nichols, all 5ft10 Goddess beauty looks the part in an otherwise under-directed G.I. JOE RISE OF COBRA. I like Charlize Theron but she is too much of a quivering bundle of angst to be a bad-ass superhero (look at the anti-sexy HANCOCK). Teresa Palmer & Amanda Righetti are red hot & should look otherworldly in tights, but they don’t exude bad-ass authority. Angelina is a grandmother. The next thing we know they would cast the anorexic poster chick Zoe Saldana as Wonder Woman – ugh!

    • I really don’t see what is so wrong with having smaller women as bad asses. If you are looking for flexibility and agility, a vast majority of gymnasts are tiny.

Just because you are tall doesnt mean you can kick ass. If you are short but stout (I’m a little teapot…), why not?

Maybe great to look at, but she’s rather talentless actingwise.

  6. A Close-up of a spinning button. WOW! Snyder you visual master.
I just hope the story is good.

The trailer looks good but it didn’t really excite me. I blame the music they chose. Lame.

  7. i want to act in this movie so badly.i just cant stand it.and its not because i want to work with hot girls or to be in a movie its just that this girls imagination is excactly what i think of.an imaginary world torn apart by war.now that to me is a kick ass plot.
if im able to play a role in this film then i would like to be the boy that comes in to help the girls find the objects and get them out but the man thats looking forbabydoll aka emily browning doesnt know that im helping them so i have to be kept secret or else something will definatly happen to me.and when is say help i mean beat the fuck out of the enemy not like just stay in one area away from the war and letting the girls kill the enemy no i mean actually and phisycally fight in the movie.(and not dying either)but if i can i would love to act in this film and i hope the director is still reading this if he even is but if he is then i hope i can act in the film and beat the shit out of those machines hell add me in every battle i just want to fight in the movie because that to me is totally what made this movie shine to me.
