With David Ayer’s Suicide Squad just about two months away from its debut, we’re getting a few fresh looks at the colorful cast thanks to some newly released images. These behind-the-scenes shots feature the DC Comics characters alongside their writer/director leader as they tackle Warner Bros.’ next ambitious adaptation.

In addition to Ayer, we also have new images of Will Smith’s Floyd Lawton / Deadshot, Margot Robbie’s Dr. Harleen F. Quinzel / Harley Quinn, Jared Leto’s Joker, Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc, and Karen Fukuhara’s Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana. Also starring Jai CourtneyViola Davis, Jay HernandezAdam Beach, Common, Jay Hernandez, and Ike BarinholtzSuicide Squad opens in theaters on August 5th.

In addition to the new images that come courtesy of Total Film Magazine’s upcoming issue, there were some choice quotes by folks in the know, like super-producer Charles Roven who revealed one of the threats, known as the Eyes of the Adversary, the Suicide Squad will be up against:

“Let’s just say, when they’re called in to do this mission by Amanda [Waller], these are one of the things they encounter. They don’t know how they got here, but they’re weird and dangerous and yet they’re wearing military uniforms.”

Take a look at the new images below (from Total Film via Batman-News) and keep an eye out for the new issue for more quotes:

Here’s the official synopsis for Suicide Squad:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
