According to tweets from various Suicide Squad actors, the film is “ready to leave its mark on SXSW.” Does this mean the film is coming to the film and music festival to screen? Is Warner Bros. hosting a Harley Quinn-themed tattoo shop? While we ponder the implications of this cryptic tweet, the studio has already released some tattoo representations of members of Suicide Squad.
Using the hashtag #HarleysTattooParlor, Cara Delevigne (Enchantress), Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), and Adam Beach (Slipknot) tweeted tattoo illustrations of their respective characters, with more likely to come. Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, and other members of the cast gave each other real tattoos that read “skwad” to commemorate their time filming together. The actress also posted a photo to Instagram of a logo that read, “Harley’s Tattoo Parler Parlour.” Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to Collider’s request for comment as to what this new promo blitz is all about, but you can already see a connection.
David Ayer directs Suicide Squad, which sees the warden of Belle Reve prison, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), assembling a team of imprisoned supervillains to execute a suicide mission in exchange for their freedom. Will Smith (Deadshot), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Jared Leto (Joker), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), and Ben Affleck (Batman) also feature in the cast.
SXSW continues to announce various films that are making its way to the Austin-based festival. Keanu starring Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, AMC’s Preacher pilot starring Dominic Cooper, Netflix’s Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, and a work-in-progress of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s animated comedy Sausage Party will all be featured.
SXSW runs from March 11-19th, and Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5. Check out the images below.
