Summit Entertainment is now in talks to get the rights to Andrew Klavan’s popular young adult series Homelanders. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is coming aboard to help produce the film, which bears resemblance to a teen Bourne Identity. The story is about a High School student who wakes up tied to a chair with no recollection of why or how he got there, and later finds out that a whole year has passed. When he escapes he tries to figure out what authorities and terrorist organizations want with him. Currently there are two books in the series, The Homelanders: The Last Thing I Remember, and the second installment The Homelanders: The Long Way Home, with a third book on it’s way in November.
Klavan is no stranger to the silver screen, having written the novels for Clint Eastwood’s True Crime, and the Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy film Don’t Say A Word. Summit Entertainment is best known for their work on the recent Twilight films, so it won’t come as a shock to anyone when in 3 weeks we hear that Taylor Lautner has been cast as the films lead.
